RIP to both the cyclist and Maggie Smith.
One had a long productive life. The other didnāt get the chance.
RIP Maggie Smith. One of my all-time favourites.
Thatās awful to hear. I feel for her family/friends
Sad to hear, but an amazing life/career.
Say what you want about the Harry Potter films, but the casting was top-notch.
I debated pursuing a cycling career late in high school, and I felt like I could have really done something with it, but things like that gave me serious pause.
I also went to watch some event where Lance Armstrong was riding, and ā¦ you think street races are some clean, may the best person win thing, and theyāre not. They were dirty. And even back then, you could tell Armstrong was very āIām going to win at any costā and I thought Iām competitive, but I donāt need to win that badly.
I used to love cycling and often wondered what would have happened had I trained seriously for it. I now know that anyone from my generation would have been f**ked with all the sophisticated doping coming in. I think Greg lemond said something along the lines that thank goodness he wasnāt 10 years younger.
I have more hope for those born after the mid 80s. Certainly not 100% guaranteed to be clean. Iām still a little puzzled by Jonasās time trial in last years tdf. That seemed like way too big a winning gap against good quality opposition.
Ha, but I donāt think that was Crabbe in the second pic. Blaise Zabini, I think.
And thereās nothing short of dying
Half as lonesome as the sound
Of a sleeping city sidewalk
And Sunday Morning coming down.
RIP - Kris Kristofferson
RIP Dikembe. That wagging finger will live on forever.
Nobody rejected a cereal box better than he.

crossed paths with him one night freshman year (for both of us) at georgetown, where i was a visitor. deepest voice iād ever heard. learned today that he was a 22yo freshman.
Thatās like late 80s iirc. My dad was a post graduate fellow.
I laugh at how then anyone from Africa was my dadās brother even when they came from more than 10000km away.
fall of 1988 was freshman year
