Very sad. I remember him well from his “meathead” role in All in the Family. His sparring with Archie was precious.
Must watch The Princess Bride for the umpteenth time with the family over the holidays.
RIP Rob. Too soon to see you go.

better - was doing it from memory at 4 a.m.
OMG that was him? wow, til.
It’s inconceivable!
There are three things you don’t discuss with Archie: religion, politics, and anything else.
We didn’t miss an episode. My dad always watched it with us but I wasn’t sure he realized it was satire….
Watched it when I was young as well. Edith is pretty much a clone of my grandmother.
I also remember him as Snake (Susan Dey’s date) on Partridge Family, Sheldn (Penny Marshall’s boyfriend on the odd couple) and King Sturtevant on Rockford files.
Perfect as Archie’s foil on AITF. Student, Teacher - too many shows would have made him a lazy hippy type. Even better, he wasn’t always right. Even in his liberalism, he sometimes went too far. Too bad it couldn’t play today, people have become too stupid to understand sarcasm.
I wonder how All in the Family would be received these days. Its original timing was perfect because of the issues that Archie and Michael argued over. But it might come across as being very dated.
However I would happily watch it again but not sure most folks would get it these days, as you suggest.
The issues haven’t changed all that much, just change the names
Racism
Antisemitism
War
The Presidency
Violence
White Supremacists
Homophobia
Rape
Infidelity
Scams
Sexual roles
Job Security
Implicit bias
Religion
Honesty
What’s outdated?
It may be more about the context in which the issue is discussed. “War” would be all about the Vietnam War as opposed to the conflicts taking place today, etc.
I took your comments as a revamped show, not reruns.
People still watch MASH reruns
I would not watch a revamped All in the Family as I associate the actors too strongly with their characters. Who could replace Carroll O’Connor?
I still watch MASH reruns. A good example of a show that was better than the movie.
The Tim Allen shows he’s done recently try to make him the idiot dad. Pretty sure they shy away from any real politics. Some anti-“woke” jokes for the idiots who watch.
Funny thing is O’Connor went on to In The Heat Of The Night, where he would have played a similarly minded character, though they took all the edge and racist messaging out of the show.
Casting is hard - I could see a Bryan Cranston or Ed O’Neil - though both are too old.
Need mid 40s to 50s, who can look working class - the rest is acting
Loved the show, but also the movie. Wouldn’t say better, but definitely one of the best movies to series. Odd Couple to me is number one.
All In The Family was itself a revamped version of Till Death Us Do Part. So if it worked once, it could work again.
I though TDUDP was basically the same period, just a British version.
Never saw an episode (unlike The Office or Ghosts) so can’t compare how close it was
Jon Favreau
Paul Giamatti
RIP. just watched Spinal Tap II this weekend.
Zed’s dead, baby. He had a lot of roles
