Apparently he was misquoted - it was changed for the movie. It’s still a very useful (mis)quote.
i find that hard to believe, pretty sure i knew the misquote, well prior to the movie

Stamp was Chancelor Velorum in Star Wars: Phantom Menace, oddly a forgotten character actor whose part plays a significant role in the whole franchise.

A long career indeed. Interesting he played Zod in Superman II and was the voice of Jor-El in Smallville. I also didn’t realize he was Lord Azriel in the His Dark Marterials series on HBO/MAX.

I believe that Julie Christie was the most beautiful actress of all time so I greatly envied Stamp being her love interest in Far From the Madding Crowd. RIP.
I would be glad to continue any Julie Christie discussion elsewhere! Stamp and Christie were involved in real life also.

Stamp cavorted wth a number of the world’s most beautiful actresses but I couldn’t see his appeal. Omar Sharif and Julie Christie I could appreciate!
