Boggs responded on Thursdays to Schillings podcast from Tuesday with support and sadness. I would not consider his tweet leaking yhe cancer news. He did apologize, as it was not something the family wanted discussed at all.

I’m sad that he has passed but I’m shocked he lived to 80. That seems really old for a professional football player, especially someone who hit as hard as he did and played in the era he did.
I’m guessing that he hit correctly (not leading with his head), and did not get hit as often.

Geoff Hurst (who scored a hat-trick in the final) is now the only one from the 1966 World Cup winning team left. He and Mbappe in 2022, are the only players to score hat-tricks in a World Cup final.
