I don’t think these folks understand the level of concern in a foreign country caused when US politicians start joking about annexing their country. Everyone knows the US has the military might to do it so there is genuine fear of attack.
Republicans figure everyone wants to be an American so don’t understand why folks in these countries resist annexation.
