Republicans Say the Darndest Things!

When Trump dies, the Trump cult will dissipate.

However, a Trump who declines further into dementia or other diminished mental capabilities…as long as his handlers can trot him out to occasionally put on a show, the cult will keep lining up for the Kool-Aid.

projecting some fair and equal treatment of the situations is not exactly a foundation strong enough to build on IMO

Who takes over? Bannon or someone was proclaiming Trump a once in a lifetime leader. The cult knows. The string pullers all know they have a limited time the get as much out of Trump as they can. With as little as we know about his health, he could fall over any day, which I think is one of the reasons they are all plowing through as much as they can to lock in as much power structure as possible before that happens.

I think we get a back-room deal among Elmo, other tech bros, and the Heritage Foundation to achieve the consensus of how to manipulate Trump when that happens.

And regarding the pace at which the shenanigans is moving – that’s not about the Dear Leader’s health. They’re intentionally moving so quickly that their opponents can’t keep up, and that public opposition for any one thing gets lost in the flood of actions…and because they’re aware that even their minions in Congress will become less pliant as we get closer to the midterms.

They have just over a year more to satisfy their agenda, and get the changes so enmeshed in the fabric of government that they can’t easily be undone.

That’s not conjecture on my part. Various strategists in Trump’s orbit have literally been saying that this is the strategy since before the election. Although it may be phrased more politely, it’s in the Project 25 tome. None of this should be a surprise, aside perhaps from the fact that they’re actually pulling it off.

This is the problem.

Nobody really took them 100% seriously. Just a bunch of quacks with their wishlist.

That was clearly mistake. I just hope that this was not a terminal mistake and we all get a 2nd chance to stop Trump
and his cronies.

1/3 of the country voted against it, and out of those a material proportion believed it, and screamed it 100% seriously to the remainder of the country.

Just not enough.

Why not both?

But I agree they know this will all be deeply unpopular and there is a clock ticking on 2026 that allows for time to let the dust settle.

Fool me once….

This is an older tweet, but it’s making the rounds again. It hasn’t exactly aged well for him.

If he sees it making the rounds, it’d be nice if Elmo were reminded of what happened to Coin, the head of the resistance, in the Hunger Games franchise.

Quite a few people did.

We weren’t believed, or punishing the prior administration for not doing enough for Gaza took priority, or the price of eggs took priority, or…

It’s a cult

Just missed some words out that’s all. Should have said “Trump is the living embodiment of what the American Constitution was designed to stop”

Excerpt from NYT article today on Trump’s lying skills:

“So there was Michael Waltz, the former Republican congressman from Florida now serving as Mr. Trump’s national security adviser, pressed last week to reconcile his past comments about who was responsible for the war in Ukraine with his boss’s current position.

A reporter read aloud from an opinion column that Mr. Waltz had written in 2023 stating that “Putin is to blame, certainly, like Al Qaeda was to blame for 9/11.” Mr. Waltz was asked if he still believed that or whether he now shared Mr. Trump’s assessment that Ukraine had started the war.

“Well,” Mr. Waltz said carefully, “it shouldn’t surprise you that I share the president’s assessment on all kinds of issues. What I wrote as a member of Congress was as a former member of Congress.”

And so, Mr. Waltz’s actual reality gave way to Mr. Trump’s alternative version.”

At a certain point,

Isn’t this evidence of his cognitive decline?

Its not just that he is dysfunctional (grandiose narcissist) but that he is also experiencing cognitive decline so his grandiosity becomes increasingly outlandish.

To paraphrase Upton Sinclair, it’s easy to get a person to believe something when their salary depends on them believing it.

That was actually a pretty well worded response that said absolutely nothing.

Unfortunately, no, not in the way you want it to be.

It’s consistent with the mental gymnastics of a conspiracy theorist.

There website hasn’t had a press release since 2020, so why start now?
