Then on Wednesday, 9/4, we had the GA school shooting, with one of the shooter’s issues being that he hates trans people. So Trump followed up today:
Can you imagine you’re a parent? And your son leaves the house and you say “Jimmy, I love you so much, go have a good day in school.” And your son comes back with a brutal operation. Can you, can you even imagine this? What the hell is wrong with our country?
Now obviously trans surgeries are not being done at school (CNN, being a joke of a news organization, actually bothered to fact check this crazy claim). You have to sign release forms just to have the school give your kid ibuprofen, and Trump is saying that they are doing surgeries? Where? The cafeteria? Who is paying for these fictitious surgeries? And if you want to be serious about fact checking, there is no state in the country where a minor can get gender affirming surgery without parental consent.
But the questions I have are 1) Does Trump believe this or know the he is spewing BS? 2) Does he think his supporters are dumb enough that they believe this? 3) Shouldn’t his supporters be offended that he thinks that they are dumb enough to believe this?
3 is irrelevant because 2.
Also, does it make liberals cry or defend or wate time? If so, win.

Re 1: Back in his prime, Trump told tall tales with a wink, acknowledging his exaggerations as part of his salesmanship. Sometime…perhaps during his first candidacy, perhaps when in office… he started believing his bunk.

I’ve read that “Mexico will pay for it” was just something that popped into his head while he was rambling. It got a big cheer from the crowd and it became a standard line.

He’s been threatening Democrats with jail for months and years now, but it keeps filtering down further and further. Used to be Hillary Clinton and similar people like Obama, but inexorably the list of people he’s openly threatening to imprison is growing.
Now, like you said, it’s getting down to anybody who has donated to Harris. He’s getting more unhinged and desperate - and that’s dangerous.

I assume the only reason he’s not threatening to jail people for voting for Harris is because he knows that everyone will be voting for Trump, and any Harris votes in the tallies are just evidence of fraud.

At what point does Trump threaten something that crosses a line? It feels like he is saying lots of things that he said on January 6 but could not in any way be protected as an official act?
I am not saying he has done anything yet, but he’s on a trajectory.

I mean, he hasn’t necessarily said anything illegal or suggested he would do anything illegal.
If he becomes President, as an official act, he will put you in jail if you don’t support him. Nothing illegal there, it’s a protected action.

I see Mike Collins is preoccupying himself with the important parts of his job, like being randomly racist out of the blue. He’s the guy, if you remember, who made the laughably poorly-edited commercial of him exploding a ballot box by shooting it with a bullet.
