The deep state is going after more Trump coffee boys
So, using the term Repugnant Party is ok now?
Q: What specific legislation will you commit to to make child care affordable?
Trump: Well, I would do that and we’re sitting down, you know, I was, somebody, we had Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka… But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about that because the child care is, child care couldn’t, you know, there’s something you have to have it in this country, you have to have it… I want to stay with child care… So we’ll take care of it. Thank you
The full quote is equally terrible.
And yesterday-ish (days blur together) Vance suggested that one way to solve the make child care more affordable is to have more people have the grandparents / aunts take care of the kids. Plus remove the obstacles to working at day care so that day cares can be more expensive – he said that you shouldn’t have to stay in college for a 6 year degree to work for a daycare. Editorial note: in almost every state, you only need a high school diploma / GED plus minimal safety training, not 6 years of college + post-graduate education. For someone who has family as his #1 issue, Vance sure doesn’t know how it actually works.
He pointed out that his MIL took a sabbatical from her job to move and live with them so she could take care of an infant while here daughter clerked for a federal judge (she clerked for both Roberts and Kavanaugh ).
So that is his experience. Pretty atypical of course.
Trump’s full response to the what would you do to make childcare affordable question:
Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down, and I was, somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was so, uh, impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that, because, look, child care is child care is. Couldn’t, you know, there’s something, you have to have it – in this country you have to have it.
But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not used to — but they’ll get used to it very quickly – and it’s not gonna stop them from doing business with us, but they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Uh, those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including child care, that it’s going to take care.
We’re gonna have - I, I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with, uh, the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country, because I have to stay with child care. I want to stay with child care, but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I’m talking about, including growth, but growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just, uh, that I just told you about.
We’re gonna be taking in trillions of dollars, and as much as child care, uh, is talked about as being expensive, it’s, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we’ll be taking in. We’re going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people, and then we’ll worry about the rest of the world. Let’s help other people, but we’re going to take care of our country first. This is about America first. It’s about Make America Great Again, we have to do it because right now we’re a failing nation, so we’ll take care of it. Thank you. Very good question. Thank you.
tl;dr: “I don’t want to talk about childcare…”
I thought about posting this quote earlier. Just vote for me and the childcare will be the greatest and cheapest you’ve ever seen. Believe me, people will still be talking about it 200 years from now.
Ah so other countries are going to pay for our child care like Mexico paid for the wall. Got it.
I assume details of his plan will be out in a couple of weeks.
So we’re going to take in trillions of dollars by slapping tariffs on incoming goods, which will be paid for by Americans, which will drive inflation into the double digits, which will almost certainly trigger a recession and stagflation, which will also drive up interest costs on the national debt and the national debt itself, and from the first part of tariffs that get paid before the economy collapses maybe we’ll have affordable child care that’s increasingly available by requiring increased training for people to be able to open daycares, which means increases costs that will be reflected in prices charges for childcare.
This is so brilliant, it makes Newton, Einstein, Tesla, Curie, Pasteur and Nobel all look like imbeciles even if you combine their intelligence. Where do I sign up for this?
Look you just don’t have the genius of Donold Smoot-Hawley Trump
Trump slammed Trump hard:
For four straight years, I fought for American workers like I would fight for my own family. I took care of our economy like I would take care of my own company.
I mean, I know his fiscal policy had some problems, but damn that’s harsh.
We’re doomed!
I have the best bankruptcies, bankruptcies like you’ve never seen before. I have grown men say to me Sir, you have the best bankruptcies. With tears in their eyes.
Unfortunately, Trump probably believes that declaring bankruptcy is a fine economic strategy. Since it worked for him, why wouldn’t it work for the US?
He has suggested the US should default on its debt, which is ignorant.
Trump’s political brand is to represent the ignorant view of everything.
I sometimes wonder if there’s a need to break off a separate “Trump Says the Darndest Things” thread.
