I heard “Lauren Boebert single handedly promotes her jobs program”
I’m not sure that “slut-shaming” a slut-shamer is at all immoral.
It’s like calling out a priest for sleeping with congregants. If not for their religion, it’s their deal (albeit, to me, gross.)
It’s fair to call out hypocrisy.
There is a difference between slut shaming a slut shamer and calling out hypocrisy. Calling out hypocrisy, while it doesn’t need to be explicit, does need to be more than just mocking an action. Having said that, attacking someone for breaking public decency laws isn’t slut shaming. Calling someone a slut or attacking their character because they wore a ridiculous dress would count as slut shaming, making fun of someone’s dress as being inappropriate for the event (as has been done with Boebert’s outing) is not. That’s a somewhat subtle line but I think exists.
In general, though, this raises an adjacent point that I think gets overlooked. MTG gets a lot of mockery for her appearance, often her feet but her face too. This is misogynistic and also distracts from the point that she is anti-semitic, racist, pro-secession, and an all around terrible human being. Meanwhile, with the exception of fat jokes (b/c our society mocks fat people as much as women), men with comparably crappy politics don’t get criticized for their body. The closest we get to that is mocking the clothes that DeSantis wears, not things that he cannot change.
Fair. I suppose “slut-shaming” is more pointed at things like having a one-night stand, which isn’t my thing but long as you’re not cheating, etc., who cares. Shaming public indecency isn’t quite the same.
I agree that women in politics get criticized for their appearance far more than men. However, it’s not that men are immune. See McConnell as a turtle, or Trump’s hair or orange makeup. You are correct that usually being overweight is the reason.
I don’t think it’s makeup. I think it’s excessive tanning. My ex-husband started tanning while we were dating and he went from looking normal to being the exact same shade of orange as Trump is. I think he was self-conscious because he was 5.5 years older than me, but the tanning made him look older, not younger. Anyway, I eventually convinced him that I found him more attractive when he wasn’t tanning and he stopped going.
But as soon as we separated he quickly turned orange again.
There’s often a bright line on his neck where the orange stops and the pasty white begins.
Oh, I never noticed that.
With my ex-husband you could tell it was tanning because the creases in his wrinkles would be white but the rest of his skin was orange.
You be the judge. Trump went on Twitter to say this was Photoshopped, which is possible if somebody Photoshopped it from multiple angles and no pictures without the Photoshop exist.
My take is definitely makeup and spray tan.
Then you think Trump was lying?
“You have some states that are allowed to kill the child after birth, and you can’t allow that,” Trump insisted.
“Look, the Democrats are able to kill the baby after birth,”
Are there Republicans stupid enough to believe this?
Maybe he’s talking about the death penalty states.
That is such a common talking point these days on the right that I think the answer is yes, a lot of Republicans do believe it.
You do understand that there is a distribution of intelligence on a somewhat normal curve? What do you think those folks in the far left tail understand, besides what is told to them as “fact”?
Some are.
Trump: Biden is cognitively impaired. He would lead us to world war 2.
Every accusation is a confession.
In some states there is no obligation to provide care to a child that survives abortion and is delivered. Perhaps this is what he is talking about.Old fact check. There is a 2002 federal law that outlaws direct killing. Kermit Gosnell, the abortion provider in Philadelphia, was convicted of 3 counts of infanticide, it might have been under that law.
I guess the fact that he was black and in Philadelphia warrants the statement that Democrats are able to kill babies after birth.
