It’s back again. Yet another GOP gubernatorial nominee is touting the litter boxes in schools for furries story.
Honestly until the GOP calls out this kind of garbage, they’re going to have a tough time appealing to moderate voters. Maybe they think it’ll detract from their stance on actual issues, like no abortion exceptions.
Not so much saying the darndest thing as doing the darndest thing…apparently the Alabama state chairman for the GOP has been using a fake ID to comply with that state’s voter ID requirements.
Include in the “Freedom for us, but not for you” subcategory.
Should this have been in the “Democrats say the darndest things” thread instead? Democrats claim voter id requirements suppress the vote, but clearly it isn’t so In Alabama.
Oh, please. As I’ve been hearing for years, “What about illegal don’t you get?”
I’d like to hear the judge’s rationale for allowing the fake ID. Should that open the way for all fake IDs?
From the Oath Keeper’s Trial (Oath Keepers Trial: Stewart Rhodes Said Rifles Would Have 'Fixed It')
I was criticizing the claim that there is no evidence. The suspect says that was a factor in why he did it. His statement is evidence. So the cop’s statement that there is no evidence seems wrong.
Cop: Why did you do this?
Suspect: A and B
Cop: There is no evidence that A was a factor in the crime.
That just seems… wrong. I mean sure, maybe the guy is lying or too crazy to even understand his own motives. But like… that’s what he said. That’s evidence. It’s not definitive proof, but it’s certainly evidence.
What the… ??? WHAT?!?!
He is getting desperate.
His name is actually smaller than his lt. Gov running mate on most signs (Matt Birk)
But like… it is the state patrol’s job to investigate the crime and determine what actually occurred, including what the motive was.
People lie at crime scenes all the time regarding there motives for a crime. Why would this be any different? Because you really really want it to be true? Do you trust rural, nearly guaranteed to be republican state patrol to do their job?
I don’t “really want” anything to be true. It sounds like a completely senseless killing regardless of whether the suspect was telling the truth or not.
The cop’s statement was just ludicrous though. If he’d said “despite the suspect’s statement to the contrary, we do not believe this crime was politically motivated” then fine, I’d accept that.
But I spent a long time on jury duty being lectured by the judge during jury instructions that testimony in court is evidence. Statements made to the police are evidence. Affidavits are evidence. Evidence does not equal proof, but we needed to understand that what we were being presented with counted as evidence. So for the cop to say there’s no evidence of political motivation when there’s a statement to the contrary just makes it seem like the cop doesn’t know what the word “evidence” means.
(Apparently where I was a juror there had been a mistrial recently because several members of the jury thought that the testimony/statements/affidavits were not evidence, and thus concluded that there was no evidence of the defendant’s guilt while other jurors were convinced of the guilt… judge didn’t want a repeat of that.)
The litter box hoax must be going on over a year now, without a lick of proof. These people ate the onion hard.
See Kandiss Taylor (R), failed candidate for GA governor: “When I am governor, the furry days are over.”
(Warning: May be NSFW for you, I did not scroll down the comments. The top response is a fairly tame animated animal showing its nondescript behind. I suspect it gets worse if you look.)

"I know my mom and I would really appreciate if my father Herschel Walker stopped lying and making a mockery of us.
You’re not a “family man” when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months running from your violence."
Guessing Dems have a lot of baggage to slowly leak on some of the clowns the Republicans are running for office. Figured the drips would start pretty soon.
Wow, I guess I’m living under a rock. Either that or I assumed it was a joke without realizing that people were taking it seriously and dismissed it and forgot all about it. Or both.
That would be rational. Howevr this fake story apparently has huge traction within the GOP as candidates keep repeating it. Not really that different from other conspiracy theories repeatedly touted to represent the war of good vs evil.
I mean this is sounding very vaguely familiar, like maybe I saw a Facebook post about it a year ago, rolled my eyes and scrolled past it. But Good Lord. How dumb can people be?
(Rhetorical… I don’t think I want a real answer to that question.)
