Yes I can. And that type of activity makes me feel like I’m odd.

Candles are pretty bad on indoor air quality. You may want to re-examine their utility to you.

Finally. Heathrow was so far behind on this one.

This Swedish prof was invited to teach to an elite group of Swedish students. He gave them a pre-test asking them to identify which of the five pairs of countries had a significantly higher child mortality rate. On average they got 1.8 correct, significantly less than you might expect from chimpanzees which was also on par with Swedish professors…
These are from 2006 and 2014? TED Talks; lots of excellent data visualizations that you will enjoy, even if some of the data is a touch old…

Got my taxes filed. Getting about $1k back from federal, $1.1k back from state. Since I just booked our flights and hotel to Seattle for our June cruise today, I’m coming out almost even.

Next year I will have a 1099 from SOA exam writing - my 2025 payment didn’t get paid until 2026, and that was my own fault for delaying the paperwork, so I expect the 2026 payment will also hit in 2026. That will be a painful offset next year. Trying to not spend that money!

They just sent me my 2025 grading invoice in the last week or two. I think we will get paid after each sitting this year so ideally only the November sitting will spill into 2027

Anyways, I still need to do my 2025 taxes. I think I have everything I need now, except the motivation

Honestly, you can probably let it slide for a few years. The IRS doesn’t really have the manpower to deal with your case right now.

I don’t even get my investment paperwork to file my taxes until Feb 15th… /humblebrag

There’s a news article about the Kennedy Center programming manager resigning, and how he was the manager "for various touring acts, including the R&B group Color Me Badd ..”

This reminded me of a 2-3 month stretch after they released their 2nd hit song, when there were various celebrity events and they’d get invited and get asked to sing the opening verse of that song; of course, they’d happily do it. And then, they were showing up in other places to sing the opening verse of that song. And kept doing it. I’m pretty certain after a while, they were showing up at the opening of any door to sing it.

I would not be surprised to find out you can hire them today at an incredibly affordable price, even with inflation, to sing that opening verse at the opening of any door in your area.

Everything’s upside down there (or is it here?) but because of gravity you don’t notice it

I have never been south of Miami.

Miami, OH?

I think the farthest I’ve been south is about 100 miles south of Miami.

No visits to Hawaii?

Go show DRJFGW a good time south of the equator:

Oooh, right. We did go south of Havana and into the country, but I believe the big island is a little bit further south that we went in Cuba.

What about East Atlanta?
