Random Thoughts

I just talked myself out of a $10K commission.
Someone called, laid out a series of assumptions, end result, $10K in my pocket.
I got thinking, realized with a minor re-explanation of circumstances, they could cut that amount in half.
As I’m explaining this, I had another realization, explained to them a different sequence of events where they skip the purchase entirely. Told them to confirm with an accountant, but I’m pretty sure I’m right.
They’re happy. I lost the sale lol. (which is OK, I don’t ‘make sales’. I act as a consultant and sometimes that turns into sales and sometimes it doesn’t but either way it doesnt impact the process or my recommendations).

Over the years I have often pondered the question: “what is consciousness and can it exist independent of the brain?

Interesting article in December’s Harper Magazine on the subject. If my link does not work for you it might be accessible through FB or other medium. I still don’t have an answer to my question though. Sorry.

So, (somebody around here hates(d) posts/paragraphs started with “so”) So anyway, I’m too drunk at the moment (this point in time for me but not the point in time for the reader unless you/they are reading this shortly after me replying) to read the article as I started it and the details quickly faded into the blah blah blah of the drunken gray. Anyway.

To my knowledge nothing has demonstrated it comes from nothing. The physical, from minute to grand, holds us. A soldier termite will stand at a gap in a mud wall, formidable pincers out, the workers scurry behind on occasion one stops to feed the soldier. Is this soldier termite aware of the threats? Does it stand at its post fighting all comers, usually carpenter ant soldiers, without awareness? Is there a spark of that godly consciousness within that soldier termite as it would help it in its awareness and defense.

If the termite has a bit of consciousness is it different from the humans in origin and existence?

The universe scrambles itself unto a myriad of self awarenesses. We are one. Sitting within a lump of flesh we desire to be universal when we are just one aspect of the universe.

Same. Getting my teeth brushed this morning was the bar so I’ve technically crushed it.

The phrasing on this makes it sound like you got someone else to brush your teeth for you. I guess the dentist kinda does that, but I’m not aware if it’s a thing your personal assistant might do.

I don’t think I eat very much over my keyboard, but across a year or two it gets pretty gross, crap in between the keys. Is that just me being unhygenic?

Today’s the day I’m popping all the keys off the keyboard and doing a deep clean.

Note: Take a picture of the keyboard first.

I tend to eat meals in my easy chair away from my desk.

I do shake out the keyboard occasionally.

I didn’t even realize keys still popped off easily (used to play jokes on people by switching M & N and hoping they were hunt and peckers)

Anyway back on topic - why not compressed air?

Because I think coffee has been dripped a few times and it’s more than just dust.

Anyway, just spent a few minutes. Pulled all the keys, spent some time with a brush and a wet rag, wiped down all the keys, back to new again.

My buddy is a traffic cop. he’s also of Trinidad descent which is relevant because he’s the darkest skinned person I’ve ever met.

Apparently he occassionally gets some racist attitude during traffic stops. His chain of thought is that racism is aggression. Aggression is a sign of drinking. And drinking while driving? Gotta check for that.

So when he gets racists behavior, out comes the breathalyzer. And if you refuse, you’re getting a ride and a blood test no questions.
tl;dr call him some ignorant names and you’re not making work today.

He’s also the most calm person I know so this would all be delivered clearly and slowly lol.

Random because we were just discussing this yesterday. A bit of an overreach of authority, but I think in this case warranted.

It’s bizarre that someone would do this though. Anyone should know that if you act like an ahole to a cop during a traffic stop that they can make your life miserable with small stuff. Same with the ministry of natural resources. I don’t screw around with those guys, they can always find something to make you cough up a few hundred bucks. Or just give you a warning.

He’s got a point. Racist comments are also a sign of lack of inhibition, another sign of drinking, imo.
What kinds of idiots are insulting cops anyway… I suppose the kind that are about to miss work

Do they refuse the breathalyzer because they’re belligerent or they really have been drinking?
