Seems like something for the insignificant signals thread? Or its converse thread?

What a ducking peeping Tom (drake? (Hen?))

Doesn’t deserve its own thread…and it must’ve been the AO where moviepass was discussed…

Bing chat 3-4 sentence summary:

Mitch Lowe, the former CEO of MoviePass, has pleaded guilty to fraud charges. He admitted to misleading investors about the company’s business model and financial health. This plea is part of a broader investigation into the company’s practices, which promised unlimited movie tickets for a low monthly fee but struggled financially. The case highlights significant issues in the company’s operations and transparency.

I was feeling nostalgic and picked up a can of meatball spaghetti o’s for dinner. They don’t taste as they did a few years ago.

Yes, I believe the formula changed. My wife buys them occasionally. I used to like it when I was a kid, but when I tried it a few years ago I did not care for it at all.

It must have been in the last 5 years or so, because I have been enjoying them long after my childhood (but my kids no longer like red sauce stuff, so we haven’t bought them recently).

Hmmm, it must have been bad then, too, because Google tells me it was 15 years ago. Guess I was just too hungry, eating my kids’ leftovers, to notice until now…

I’m surprised he copped to fraud

I would have continued playing dumb and held on tight to “I’m a horrendous businessman”

I guess when it’s only a $250k fine and a max of 5 years behind bars - why snot

Bet he gets out in less than 10 months (most likely won’t even have to serve time)

Was swimming today and saw the local hawk(?), Usually about 400-600 feet high. Nearly buzzed us in the pool. Was lower than the peak of our roof. Landed on the neighbor’s Dish antenna.

I didn’t like the taste in the 1970’s. Not sure if i ever ate them in the 80’s. I haven’t in the 90’s or later.

I liked spaghettio’s as a kid. One day I was really hungry, ate multiple cans, and then threw up. Haven’t eaten them since.

The most likely reason i didn’t like them is they were sufficiently different from my mother’s spaghetti sauce, probably in texture and sweetness, but i am just guessing. I still get a mild sense of aversion thinking about eating them. Can’t trace back to any one episode.

Things I have learned this week on GoA: People who care about (and talk about) their heritage and culture are delusional and wasting their time, and could be spending it talking about more productive matters. Like when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are contractually obligated to announce their break up.

It’s curious to me that I’m actually doing some work/business with the students I’m taking fishing/camping.

  • I had one student graduate and when the owners of the company wanted business insurance, he recommended me.
  • Another student did a coop at a VC firm. We’re meeting in the next month or so to strategize, then he’s going to introduce me to the owners for a meeting. Apparently the only way to meet with these folks is through an introduction, they ignore any other communications.
  • And this week a student who actually graduated last fall in the same convocation ceremony as me reached out. Wants to build an app together, as in I do marketing and design, he does dev. I’ve wanted to dabble in apps for a while, so this is interesting particularly since it’s no hard cost to me,just time.

I went to the county fair once. It was definitely a who’s-who of high school dropouts.
