I’m confused… what are we looking at here?
The stock market is down, but the news headline to the right says ‘stocks nudge higher.’ It’s pretty common to see that when markets are volatile, and I chuckle at it when (for example) the market opens green but the headline says ‘stocks edging lower’ because that’s what was happening pre-market, and then they update the headline to reflect the up-tick. And then stocks go red, and it takes them another however long to re-re-update the headline.

For lowering interest rates to virtually 0%, Ben Bernanke is now a Nobel laureate.

I was also surprised by this.
Maybe in 25 years someone else will become a Nobel laureate for researching the adverse effects of trying to undo years of excessively low interest rates.

If anyone missed the Ben Bernanke video from 2010 it’s a good watch. Some NSFW language, and it’s grossly oversimplified and I’d argue flat-out wrong about a few things, but it’s still funny, imo.

I went six days between showers. Got one Monday, then got a haircut Wednesday which got me through the rest of the week, didn’t do anything all weekend, finally just broke down and got one tonight. I COULD have gone another day, but my scalp was getting itchy. And who knows, maybe I smelled bad, but no one in my house was forthcoming with that information.
