and what is expensive? $50, $100, $500?

I have found The Gift Bot - Programmed to Deliver the Perfect Gift! to be useful in the past…or here’s the link to suggestions for ā€œ10 yo boysā€. (You’ll see there’s lots of overlap among lists.)

I stumbled upon FatBrainToys back in 2006 when my ā€œgraduatingā€-kindergartner thought it would be a good idea to have a summer ā€œprojectā€. We got the catapult. ([red]Amazingly[/red], they don’t have that exact model in stock anymore. [red]Must be supply chain issues[/red].) I was always tempted by the trebuchet, but never did get it.

I did get the series of Perplexus Maze balls (more for myself than anyone). Those were fun…and frustrating…but fun. You’ll have to get that from amazon or somewhere else if you want it now.

We have a number of lakes in the area.

There is a North Lake, but it’s small and not noteworthy. They built a mall nearby back in the day called Northlake mall, so the mall and surrounding neighborhood took that name. I doubt many people know there is a North Lake.

Southlake i think also got it’s name from a mall. I think the name may have been chosen due to the familiarity of the Northlake mall name. AFAIK there is no ā€œSouth Lakeā€, although there are a few lakes not too far away with different names.

The lake in East Lake is pretty small and rather unknown by itself, but the East Lake Golf Club is famous and the surrounding old neighborhood has been known as East Lake for generations. I think the golf course was built around the lake originally. It’s been home to the PGA championship for a while now.

There are a few small lakes near Westlake, but AFAIK there is no West Lake.

This is a good idea…especially if the kids get along.

We got a table tennis :ping_pong: when the youngest was in her junior year of high school. We all sucked at it so it wasn’t as much fun as it could’ve been.

When I was a kid, one of the farmer kids had a pinball machine. I would’ve given up my two older brothers for one of those.

A billiard table of some sort works because you can play solo. Need a big enough space for it, of course…if you want it to be ā€œthe place to beā€

I agree foosball, pingpong, or pool tables could be fun for young boys. Foosball is the only one of the 3 that doesn’t require a lot of space.

we had Bumper Pool as kids, so a lot less room than a full pool table

Table Tennis tables i thought were relatively inexpensive. but most fold up and don’t need to take over a room

I live in a mansion now??

No idea where these things would go lol.

I looked into space camp (I loved space camp as a kid) but the family version doesn’t have great reviews, unfortunately.

there was this one time at space camp, i took a model rocket…

Most fold up and are relatively unobtrusive if you are not currently using them but they do require a fair amount of unobstructed space when playing.

I had friends that had bumper pool tables when I was a kid, but is that still a thing? I have not seen one for a really long time.

Use your Christmas bonus to get a pool installed. I hope you don’t just get a membership in the ā€œJelly of the Monthā€ club instead.

Not quite expensive but this is something all 3 boys can play with:

We have something like that. Forget the name but it’s a similar idea with rods that connect at a bunch of different angles. Kids had a great time building with it for several years. Roughly ages 5-9 or so.
