A collaboration between Wendy’s and Netflix. Apparently, Netflix has a show called Wednesday. They cooked up a Meal of Misfortune that is now available for a limited time at Wendy’s. Lucky you. You get to eat this. That’s the idea. Different stuff in this meal, like the Happy Meal of McD.
Had to Google it because we were also confused when we saw this at our local Wendy’s.

There was a pop up haunted house at a Wendy’s drive through in LA a month or two ago. The wait was up to 5 hours before the police shut down the line.
My city’s daily newspaper will cease print production this year after a 127 year run, going exclusively digital. Does your city still have a daily print paper? When was the last time you bought a physical newspaper?
Might be 20 years for me, although I have read USA Today freebies at hotels more recently. However even that has been a while, I’d guess at least 5 years ago.
Haven’t bought a physical paper in decades, but I do subscribe ($$) to the local one.
We haven’t bought a paper in probably a decade, maybe 2? Our local daily is horrible anyway, their paper is super thin last time I saw it. Our local weekly got bought by big corp and now is just an online feed of regional news. That’s too bad, they used to publish local news; everyone’s kid got their pic in the paper at least once growing up.
Conversely, there’s a local small town ‘monthly’ that’s more of a magazine. It is still hyper local,like ‘Emma Bulgarovit’s sister Barbarella is visiting from Poland! Here’s a picture of them at the local tourist attraction’. How’s that working out? I called them a few years ago for some advertising and they had some difficulty finding space.
I’m thinking if/when I retire I might do a local weekly/monthly town rag focussed mostly on local council politics which don’t get covered at all. I think if I even went to the meetings and published a summary that I’d gain traction.

This is one of the good things about social media. I follow a few people on BlueSky that are deep in the weeds on local politics that help me keep educated on stuff that the bigger publications don’t bother with. I used to get this material on Twitter, but abandoned it after the Musk takeover.
Our local paper went under a few years ago after the owner died and his lunatic wife took over and ran It into the ground. She had some sort of beef with Rob Lowe iirc. It was weird.
We have a free weekly paper that’s pretty good for keeping up with local events and a good online site for local news and journalism, so we’re not totally in the dark.
I buy paper newspapers when stuck in the hospital because of my kid. The newspapers are for kenken, sudoku, and 3 crossword puzzles, although I’ll still read the news if there’s little else to do. It seriously doesn’t take long to get through a Chicago newspaper these days. It’s kind of CliffsNotes-news, nowadays (but without the analysis).
I have an online subscription, too, which gets you to other puzzles, but not the ones in the paper version.
We still have a printed paper here, city of almost 100k.
Anyone else having an issue with Alexa adding random things to the shopping list?
Last week I did the shopping, vanilla was on the list. I get home and my wife asks why I got vanilla. She still had quite a bit and didn’t add it to the list.
This week my wife did the shopping, and ‘clouds’ had been added to the shopping list.
I suppose it’s possible someone is sleepwalking and adding things, but more likely a new AI feature is at play here. Annoying.

The Hartford Courant has been in publication since 1764, and Wiki says it still is in print.
The fact that I had to look that up on Wikipedia probably says something about my awareness of print newspapers.
In fairness, the staff was cut massively about 20 years ago, and the Courant became a faint shell of what it once was…and thus I quit paying attention to it. There are a couple of online-only news outlets that do a much better job reporting on state news, and there’s a little ad-rag that does a pretty good job with town gossip, which, since it can be found online, I occasionally browse online.

Yes, there is a print + digital version. I subscribe to Sunday only, as that gives me something physical that I enjoy reading and occasionally doing crossword.
Comics are extremely meh these days.
I do like the local opinion columns that get printed only on Sunday.

Yeah, it’s kind of funny, because you have to go to the comic pages to get to the crosswords on my paper, but I only ever look at Frank & Ernest.
I’m out in the sticks today. I picked up my dog’s poop, and left the bag outside where the trash cans normally are. The cans were down at the end of the driveway for trash pickup.
When I brought the empty cans back to their spot, I went to grab the poop bag to place it there. It had 2 large holes torn in it, and seemed to be lighter than when I dropped it there.
What woodland critter chews through plastic to eat dog poop in the middle of the afternoon?

Most likely to account for those who have home values that are much smaller than yours.
I would estimate that what I have (in terms of personal property) isn’t that different from most people in my town . . . somewhere in the neighborhood of ~$50k.
But I don’t need to live in the swanky neighborhood where starting prices for a basic home is $400k. When I bought my home, the PP:RP ratio would be slightly above 50%; but many neighbors would see a ratio closer to 70%. Real Property values have increased at a greater rate than Personal Property in my area.
