Political truths that are worth sharing but aren’t funny

There’s a church on my block that gives sermons in Russian, Ukrainian, and English.

Speaking of things I’m not ready to explain to my kid.

Is this a truth? Maybe not, but it is Ukraine-inspired and was shared by Heather Cox Richardson, and I find lots of truths in her Letters from An American

Yep. Margaret Thatcher said similar about the Falklands in the 1980s, and she pointed out that the US was not willing to give up Hawaii (then a mere territory) during WWII.

It’s perfectly rational to want to keep your country in tact.

That said, I fear plenty of Americans would happily jettison certain pieces. Different pieces depending on who you ask of course. :grimacing:

Also, I kind of feel like we should all give up any islands that are more than 1,000 miles away. Though maybe not to a dictator.

Yep. I think plenty of Republicans would drop all the big cities on the Pacific and northern Atlantic coasts.
