You would think the deal would be clear on such basic points.
Does Canada have a minority that was disenfranchised for 100 years, and a larger and in-power minority that hate the other minority so much that disenfranchising them is a win?
The proof of citizenship is a big piece, as well as the attack on voting by mail. I live in Washington State, which has universal voting by mail, which I love. (I usually drop mine a ballot box.)

I don’t find it unreasonable to require some sort of ID when voting. Though I understand the requirement gets weaponized in the States.
The problem isn’t necessarily with “ID”.
The problem is when the ID requirements are more restrictive than is strictly necessary / when the hurdles to acquire documents to obtain such ID are significant for a segment of the population.
Or…I forget which state adopted a requirement that voters present ID with their current street address, even though many indigenous people living on reservations in the state had no formal street addresses.
ISTR that at least one state doesn’t/didn’t accept tribal ID to vote, even though some tribal IDs are RealID compliant.
Or…consider the move to require that scans of photo ID be included when sending in an absentee ballot. That’s semi-trivial for many properly-equipped people, but…
In Connecticut, ID is required to vote in person, but the law is fairly liberal about what can be used (the list includes certain kinds of canceled mail). That’s still imperfect, but it brings the proportion of the otherise eligible voting population that are disenfranchised due to ID issues from about 2% to probably less than 0.5%.

I saw that article. I don’t think anybody in Canada wants or cares about nuclear weapons. I’m much more interested in these compact nuclear power generators.
10 more years of yapping about the 51st state will shift that attitude. NK’s doing fine while Iran got obliterated. Nuclear weapons are the only way to keep the US away.

if this crap is still going on in 2028, then I agree, something will have to change.
Shit will hit the fan if the US thinks we are developing nuclear weapons.
