Maybe not the same thing, but the various east India companies might be comparable.

At one time the East India Company was powerful.
However of the Western nations (European countries, Canada, the USA and Australasia) the corporations in the US seem to currently have the most influence over their country’s politicians.
I can think of states/provinces or municipalities where a major employer or industry has great influence but my earlier comment was national in scope.
This venezuala thing is just absolutely insane. The US is ramping up to a full scale war over…nothing. Absolutely nothing. What’s venezuala doing to the US right now? Nothing.
