“no connections” ?

Why would I believe that? I expect there are towns in Mexico where anybody who wants to work in the US can find a relative, friend, or acquaintance who is already working here.

That’s what my mother’s parents and my father’s grandparents did. (a long time ago) I expect they didn’t speak much English when they arrived, just enough to make it to the town in Michigan or Minnesota where they had a contact.

I had my roof replaced a couple years ago. I wanted to ask a worker something and he just looked around for somebody else – I found the one person on the crew who spoke English. That worked for this crew that was probably subcontracting the job. They didn’t get the job because the US born workers are unskilled or idiots. They got it by working for less than the US born workers.

There’s a disconnect on Christmas I think in the US vs. what I see. Where I am, there’s pretty much zero Christianity in Christmas. It’s entirely secular. Santa Claus 100% baby. There are no babies in mangers around here.

Granted there’s a small town south of here that is heavily christian fundie and yeah, their churches have babies in mangers out front and people get goofy about it being christian. But where I am, it’s about as christian as halloween or labour day.

That’s mostly the case where I am in the US, and I’m in a pretty Christian conservative suburb. There are a bunch of nativity scenes around, but the majority are in front of churches. There are certainly far more Blueys and Santas on residential lawns than anything Jesus-related.

You don’t put the baby there until Christmas!

Then again, you shouldn’t put Mary and Joseph there until Christmas Eve. And the Shepherds arrive after Jesus.
THEN, the wise men.

IT HAS TO BE IN ORDER!!!

They do that? I guess it makes sense, but I’ve never seen any scenes like that where they added participants over time.
I did once see a live donkey at a christmas presentation, up on stage. For some reason I was attending a show at a baptist church. Surprised I didn’t burst into flames.

Here’s another:

End inflation, and make America affordable again: “Starting the day I take the oath of office, I will rapidly drive prices down and we will make America affordable again.” (8/17/24, Wilkes-Barre, PA)

This is interesting because the source is the official White House web site, listing “Promises Kept”: ✅ President Trump Has Kept His Promises — and Then Some – The White House
