Political truths that are worth sharing but aren’t funny

That said, I do applaud people for reconciling with their friends and family.

If you don’t mind, please could you give some background on this one. Don’t know anything about US college swimming here in England. I can guess what the right are bothered about, but not what they aren’t.

Was a famous case in the US.

T_P explained the person on the right.
The person on the left stole a fifth-place trophy from someone who had to accept an identical sixth-place trophy instead. Oh, the humiliation!

Riley Gaines was mailed a 5th place trophy, so she got it in the end. And now makes hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in speaking engagements, which is probably more than any of the the women who finished above her gets (the tie for 5th gets enough attention that I had to look up who won, it was Taylor Ruck for those keeping score at home).

But more to the point, even though Lia Thomas hasn’t competed since 2022, Trump is still using what happened 3 years ago as justification for pulling funding from Penn.

Wondering about her 3-20 education.

I wonder if she’d feel any differently about 4-20 education.

Thanks all for the explanation

This could almost go in Political Humor since the move is so stupid: The GOP is attempting to portray their efforts at tax cuts in a completely different light. Instead of scoring the move under “current law”, they are attempting to frame it as change from “current policy”. It’s not a tax cut after all, and the bonus is they don’t have to go through budget reconciliation then!

Makes sense, as there is no law now, anyway.

Did the parliamentarian rule that was OK? Because that was the last stop on a railway over the cliff.

He’ll be sent to an El Salvador prison if he doesn’t

I explained to my kids last night the notion that Congress has decreed that each day from now until September doesn’t really count as a day so that they don’t have to decide whether or not to revoke the emergencies and thus tariffs. They had trouble believing anything could be that stupid.
