Touche. I found it funny one is a human the other is an animal.
I blame Thomas Nast for that.
That’s a more global indicator and not a US indicator. Plus even that’s only somewhat of an indicator depending on what types of crudes local refineries are designed to process. I used to know a little about that, but it long since left my mind.
Also, btw, something nobody really talks about but I’ve wondered about wrt inflation and, obviously, gas prices, is the amount of crude refining capacity that got permanently shuttered near the start of the Biden administration. There were quite a few refineries that shut down. We’ve just had a couple more announcements of US refineries closing early in the Trump administration and that I suppose might give gas prices and inflation another little bump. Idk.
At 2 something a gallon currently, gas can’t be “expensive” in any meaningful way. It was 1.xx for as long as I can remember prior to about 2007.
People say it is expensive. So it is.
You think you know better??
I’ve had people tell me that it was like a buck fifty under Trump. Which it was in April of 2020. Maybe… maybe there was a reason other than Trump for that, but why bother to think about it?
Wait until they learn oil futures were negative back then.
I said, why bother to think about it. Sheesh.
COVID was responsible for the 15% unemployment rate. Trump’s energy policy was responsible for the $1.90 (national average) price of gas in April 2020.
Quote from a well known Republican senator:
When President Trump was president, we had:
A secure border
Gas at $1.87 a gallon
Also, when Trump entered the White House, the price of gas was only $1.94. Thanks, Obama.
Wasn’t sure whether to put this cartoon in the political humour thread or here. After some reflection, I decided it was more chilling than humorous.
With the Trump dances showing up in the NFL and USMNT over the last week, all of the outraged shut up and dribble folks from a few years ago that complained about any political statements by athletes are absolutely giddy.
