While I’m not particularly a fan of it, I never really considered Calibri to be “woke”.
I can’t imagine how someone can call Calibri “woke”.
But, I do find Times New Roman more “formal”.
I wonder if Hegseth is going to build on this by ordering that the military reverse its decision to allow lower case letters in internal messages, since mixed case messages aren’t manly enough.
Worrying about things being manly enough seems like something a beta male would do.
Spending way too much time online or listening to manosphere podcasts?
I’m sure you have a point, but I’m missing it.
I think the most likely way someone gets to the point of thinking Calibri is “woke” or unmanly is spending way too much time online or listening to manosphere podcasts. Other than that, I don’t think most people consider or even contemplate the wokeness of fonts.
The reason DOD shifted to Calibri was for accessibility reasons. If you’re vision-impaired, the lack of serifs and the spacing within Calibri’s glyphs improves readability. It’s also apparently one of the easiest-to-accurately-parse fonts for software that converts text to speech by OCR.
Accessible = woke…at least according to Rubio.
(At this point, I think Comic Sans might be the most apropos font for US government documents.)
Maybe wingdings
Thanks. I figured “woke” referred to race or gender. This makes more sense.
Now I get it. I had to re-read my comment to realize what part you were referencing.
Ironically comic sans is very accessible compared to most other fonts
Every opportunity to make life better for average people, this administration seems to choose to take the opposite option.
Not exactly surprising: if you aren’t a MAGA instrument, you are the enemy
2026 coin designs revised; no “woke” quarters.
Seems reasonable to expect normal procedures to be followed.
Sadly, that is not the reality we find ourselves in today.
TBH, I think the content of the revised is more appropriate for the event, although I would ditch the mayflower compact quarter with one that represents a theme of equal rights for all. That would feel a bit more representative of all Americans today.
If the revised ones were released in isolation, no one would care.
