Political Stuff That Doesn't Fit In Other Threads But Aren't Worth Starting A New Thread For

I’m not sure this is going to work out the way the Trump team thinks it will.

On paper, this cuts the wages farmers pay to seasonal farm workers. However, the combo of ICE raids on farms and greatly reduced wages may mean workers stay away. Georgia farmers are heavily dependent on seasonal agricultural workers, and the farms doing this right are bringing these workers here legally.

It is starting to increasingly feel like the US is entering the Twillight Zone.

If not having an East Wing is a security concern, then maybe it shouldn’t have been torn down before replacement plans were made.

“This is a madhouse…”

I’d rather it be like “Independence Day,” but the fatass prez didn’t make it to the Chopper.

Not sure which thread the healthcare funding was being discussed, but it sounds like Republicans may not be happy with letting Obamacare subsidies lapsing…

Not surprised as they have many constituents that are about to get hammered by higher premiums.

Congresscritters are seeing the writing on the wall now.

Interesting that the number of Mexican visitors has gone up at least 10%. It would be even more interesting graphic if there was some indication of absolute numbers.

So you know how the US is committing war crimes because drugs are bad while pardoning drug kingpins? Turns out that’s not the only way in which the administration doesn’t care about fighting drugs.

After Trump Media merges with TAE, the combined company aims to build “the world’s first utility-scale fusion power plant … subject to required approvals.”

I expect that their chance of getting regulatory approvals just went up.

Also

Trump Media chairman Devin Nunes and TAE CEO Dr. Michl Binderbauer will serve as co-CEOs of the combined company,

So Devin Nunes becomes the co-CEO of a fusion power start-up. I didn’t have that on my bingo card.

Let us raise a glass of vodka in celebration!

Matt Yglesias wrote a pro oil industry opinion piece for the NYT. Sean Casten, IL congressman, went on an excellent rant on Bluesky dismantling Yglesias’ points. It’s quite long with at least 40 posts, but very informative on US Energy policy. Nice to see a rep that appears to have deep knowledge on a topic

Incredible how differently Dems and Reps still view Trump.
