Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo (R) was attending a trade mission reception in Toronto’s Hockey Hall of Fame recently. The Nevada contingent was all dressed in Vegas Golden Knights jerseys and posed around the Stanley Cup, which Vegas won last year.
In his remarks, Mr. Lombardo said: We waited a long time for this. Vegas has only been in the NHL for 6 years and his Toronto audience was primarily Maple Leafs fans whose team has not won a cup in 56 years….

How long had Las Vegas been trying to get an NHL team (or any major professional team… I’d throw in MLB, NBA, and NFL to the mix, maybe MLS as well)?
I think maybe that counts too in terms of how long they waited.

Eh, not really analogous to abortion. I mean, there’s no protesters when women get tubal ligations either, which is the analogous situation.
Nor IUDs or BC pills or condoms either.
There are some politicians that would like to ban tubal ligation, IUD’s, and birth control.

True, but there’s not much grassroots support for those positions.
“No one trying to get them to change their mind” is certainly analogous to abortion however.
When we got our vasectomy, it was a next-day scheduled consultation and snipped within a week.
Tubal ligations can be very different by doctor, but many will refuse to do them if you’re too young or childfree, or if you haven’t gotten approval from your husband.
Abortions, of course, have the waiting periods, watching a video, crisis pregnancy centers that lie about being medical professionals so you accidentally keep the baby too long…

Yikes, that’s absurd. My mom got one very much without the approval of her husband… hadn’t heard of that being a thing, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
