Poker: Bad Beats, Scores, Stories, Hand Questions, Etc

Yeah, first post is now just to fool us.

Human head weighs 8 pounds

Not sure where you are, but each place has a website.
Guessing Commerce has Omaha tables. Smaller places will have them more rarely.

I’m in Manhattan Beach. Looks like I’m closest to Hollywood Park, Lucky Lady and Hustler.

Yeah, those are smaller. You can go to those, put your name on the interest board, play NLHE until that game starts.
These days, you might even be able to call ahead, put your name on.

Just note that some of these places (might be all of LA County) call tables by their buy in, not their blinds. The inland areas, not so much.

If I’m on airport dropoff duty, I may PM you.
Possibly monday.

I’m out the next week and a half, and generally pretty underwater, but would love an excuse to get out there.

Hollywood Park is having a Big O tournament a week from Saturday.
A “mystery bounty” NLHE tournament on Monday, $360 buy-in.

Wow, that’s two brand new posters with the same inane fact!

“posters”
“fact”

“new”

“wow”

i feel like i have learned some things more than once this week

And now, those incredibly knowledgeable posters are gone. However will we ever learn about probabilities with replacement versus probabilities without replacement? We, a bunch of actuaries?

I’m concerned whether I’ll ever find high quality rivets

Went to Hollywood Park Casino, next door to the SciFi, er, SoFi Stadium. Won $400 at a 3/5 table, then signed up for the tourney i noted earlier. Out in about an hour and a half. No cards, no folders to my bluffs.

Today back to another poker room. Won $400 again. Hit a few two-pair flops and players kept paying off. Was there about two hours, decided I’d had enough. Players popping preflop $45 at a $2/$3 table, just had to wait them out.

I once had a hand at a 1/2 nl table was 10 handed, i was dealt AA, and ended up all in preflop with the two players to my right. The player on my right had KK and the player on his right had QQ. AA held.

Always thought that was neat.

sounds like everyone played it exactly right.

“I’m sure many of you have had your fair share of bad beats, but I think it’s also great to share some of the stories where you’ve come out on top. I’m sure it’ll be interesting to see what everyone has to say about their scores, stories and hand questions.”

Straight from the thread title.

What exactly are you implying? That I shouldn’t click that enticing link and play some bingo?

Doing some research after a buddy told me that Pechenga (in Temecula, nice wineries) closed their poker room…
Pala and Rincon have also closed their poker rooms. Either the return wasn’t good enough or they’ve lost too many dealers. Still a few Injun casinos out near Palm Springs with poker rooms, but inland San Diego seems to be drying up. Ocean’s 11 in Oceanside has a nice room, as I was there last Spring.

What do they take as a rake in California poker rooms?
