News that makes you say WTF?!?!

I think the case is that the private school kids’ busing has priority, that cost MUST be paid, and it crowds out providing buses for the public school kids.

I think a reasonable and efficient alternative is to simply invert what my school did: take all kids to the private school, then on to the public school. Instead of a pickup, the private school is a drop-off.
Simple.

I live in Ohio, and my kids don’t get a bus to school because they’ve decided 2 miles is close enough that a child of any age could get there in any weather, regardless of sidewalks or other public transportation options, without a bus.

The kids next door who attend a catholic school less than a mile away get a bus, through the public school district. When I was in (private) middle school, I attended a school less than a mile from my house, and I also got a bus. It was a full sized bus that took maybe 10 kids home, because it had to come from our suburban school district and only serviced kids from that district. So we had kids from 4 or 5 districts, each with their own buses. Super ineffective and a waste of taxpayer dollars.

But when they get to your age they’ll be able to tell their kids that when they were a wee lad they trudged through mud, ice and snow several miles to get to school, uphill both ways.

Being reasonably tall, maybe I can not empathize as much as I should with this cosmetic surgery. It does sounds extremely painful and dangerous.

I just read that article this morning and damn…that has got to be mega painful.

This would be similar to those who register domain names that expired then sell it back to the original owner.

I had that happen once the guy was a prick. fine, keep your domain, you’ll get nothing for it.

I actually used to do this as well, but not maliciously. you could get expired domains to rank in Google so…I did.

I got an email from an admin person, I had bought their entity’s domain. I told her it cost me $50 so send me $50 and you can have it back. they actually lost no money, since the 50 was for registering the domain and they got credit for that.

a week later I get a panicked email from her, sounds like her job was in jeopardy over this. where’s the domain? uh, where’s my $50? you never sent it to me and I’m not going to spend money for your gain. anyway, they finally sent me the 50 and never let their domain drop ever again.

I think if you’re doing this you deserve some return. I mean, it’s nice that you’re not engaging highway robbery but to me something like 4x the registration fee would make a point better, give you a little return and still let everyone walk away ok.

RFK Jr will refute this, eat a pound of it, and tell everyone to get their own Geiger Counter if they’re concerned. (But before that, invest heavily in Geiger Counter makers.)

how great a value are we talking?

I see the University Admissions consultants have found a new market.

He sounds like one sick dude?

not that I wanted full details or would understand them, but the allegation that he did this for some sexual interest lacks support or explanation. just that it was said in court.

but overall, the whole article matches the thread title
