My neighbour’s cat is not doing so well. He’s at the vet now… :frowning:

Update: Chopper’s doing better, but he’s getting his left eye out tomorrow!!

Cat previously had to get a tooth removed and is maybe(?) favoring one side of her mouth. The vet isn’t willing to anesthetize her because she has a very low-grade heart murmur, low enough that a few vets have agreed its present while others haven’t heard it at all.

Apparently this makes anesthesia riskier which I understand, but they won’t put her under without an echocardiogram which requires a 200-mile trip plus the actual cost (yeah, I’m that 'Po.)

We don’t even know that her teeth need anything, I’m just worried because of the prior need.

Update #2: Chopper is now a one-eyed cat with a cone of shame. He’s also diabetic, so my neighbour went to our nearby pharmacy for that good, good insulin!!!

We just lost one of our cats due to a veterinary error.

One of them developed ringworm (common skin issue that can be treated with anti-fungals)

We are still trying to get to the bottom of what happened, but it seems they gave the wrong medication when he was there for a few days (anti-fungal baths), and he developed sepsis and passed away.

My wife is still a bit in shock. The cat was a male and otherwise completely healthy. This is the first time I have ever had to deal with a case of veterinary malpractice.

Sorry to hear, that’s really shitty

Sorry for the loss of your cat. I don’t know if it is any solace, but maybe there was an underlying issue that was missed, as opposed to straight out poisoning from issue with meds. Hopefully your little one will gain some understanding from a difficult time.

Thats the part we are struggling with as well.

Explaining to a 3 year old that one of the cats has died.

Wasn’t expecting to have to do this at her age because the cats were all very healthy (figured we would have a good 10 years before they got old).
