March Madness 2025 (a.k.a the annual Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament)

:iatp:
They certainly are prone to the most egregious of errors!!!

@1695814 I hope that this is not the same intern as the NFL Full Season Pick’em Contest!

Don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll fumble at the finish line

Wait, that’s my usual move!

I’d like to thank Ultimate Anyone for starting this late enough in the week that I’m actually going to survive to the first weekend, a rarity for me in RPS.

Quick Summary:
:oh_noes: :oh_noes: :oh_noes:

That’s right - Whiskey’s got a little company now, sitting on the edge of elimination. The JFG Region has really stepped it up, as both of the new edge-sitters are from the JFG region… looks like those three have some serious studying to do this weekend to stay alive! :open_book: (… and let me remind the studio audience - this tournament is know for big comebacks, so I wouldn’t rule anyone out just yet, at least not anyone from this year’s contestant pool!)

But the good news (as noted above) is that while we have 3 folks on the edge of elimination, no one was eliminated in the opening week of the tournament this year. Of course, that just means we’re going to have all the more carnage next week, but let’s enjoy the moment for now, shall we?

If there are enough throws sent in over the weekend I’ll do a special weekend update; otherwise we’ll continue where we left off on Monday. Enjoy your weekend, contestants and spectators alike… and keep sending in those throws! :+1:

As bad as I’m doing (0-3) I might as well have posted my throws for everyone to see also.

How can one be halfway anywhere in a best of 7 after only 2 throws?

Did my opponent submit throws for Friday? Our last post was Thursday night.

Well, I’m only an actuary, so my math skills should rightfully be questioned, but by some metrics if you need 4 wins to advance, and you have 2 wins under your belt, then 2 outta 4 is halfway there… :person_shrugging: .

Quick Summary:

:oh_noes: :oh_noes: :oh_noes:

… and we start off Monday on a rough note for one player. We’ve now introduced the :skull_and_crossbones: into the quick summary, which means we’ve had a player eliminated. Someone always has to have the unfortunate honors of being the first one out, so who was it?

No, it wasn’t her…

(Who jokes never get old, right? Right? )

… alas, it was Whiskey. The price you pay for throwing fast is sometimes it ends fast.

But as we note above, we still have 3 other folks who are now but a throw away from joining the sideline crowd… or a handful of throws away from a glorious comeback! Which will it be??

Stay tuned for what looks to be an actioned-filled week! :+1:

Sorry for the late late update - someone had a case of the Mondays… [sigh] :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Yes, we’ve lost another… but that also means we’ve got our first region with a Sweet Sixteen match-up!

And the army of :oh_noes:s just keep growing - we’re to 4 :oh_noes:s now, and 3 of them are in the JFG region!
I guess everyone’s getting excited to take on the defending champ… can ya blame 'em??

Stay tuned for more exciting action - you know all those :oh_noes:s will turn into :skull_and_crossbones:, or even better,!
(Well, even better for us, the fans of this fine competition, at least!).
