March Madness 2023 (a.k.a the annual Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament)

ifyp

An eight throw game ending in a quadruple scissors? Absolute madness! :open_mouth: :hushed: :astonished: :exploding_head: And how does a quadruple scissors even work? Not googling it.

ETA - the winner’s last 4 throws were all S.

In match 3 vs Twig Excel picked RRRRR
In match 6 among all ten throws Excel did not pick an R (SPSPS, SSPSP).

Not only did Twig steal my random number generator, she seems to have improved on it…

Just FYI, I typed in 3 separate sets of throws before my final set and I think I ended up changing one of the throws just before I sent it. I can tell you that I have never spent as much time on a set of throws in any of my throws in any of the years I have been participating in this. That was the most nerve racking game I’ve ever had. And I made it to the final four one year. You should definitely be proud of your game.

And I’m OK with your support of @Echo. If I weren’t where I am now, I’d probably be going for her?? as well. I mean how in the heck can you tell she is throwing a scissor?

Is Rock, Paper, Squirrel. Both rock and paper should be used to beat squirrels. :dog:

If I had gone for S for the 4th time in a row and lost I would have had to change my name to Kid Scissors.

Bwah ha ha haha!

twig throwing 6 S’s in 8 throws including 3 in a row is really something. Well done. Definitely some rock avoidance with no rocks in 16 selections with R being a good choice for 11 of them.

Quick Summary:
:skull_and_crossbones: :skull_and_crossbones:

There’s a couple of ways you can interpret the quick summary, but I’ll narrow it down - both of our Game 7s have been resolved, and soyleche managed to convert the :oh_noes: to , so there’s another Game 7 coming up in the Sweet Sixteen matchups!

Before we reveal the results of our two Game 7’s, let’s give a round of applause to the four players who entertained us so!

Onto the results! In our first match we just finished with an epic 8-throw Game 6 between twig93 and Klaymen, consisting of NO rocks! :astonished: How did that factor in Game 7?

There were still no rocks thrown…

Which was bad news for twig93 - Klaymen advances to the Elite Eight!! :tada:

##########################

Meanwhile, Kid_Rock rallied form being down 3-1 (again!) to tie things up. Did Kid_Rock complete the rally?

Well Kid_Rock does have Rock in the name, so that should be an advantage right?

… apparently it was a subtle influence, as Kid_Rock countered Whiskey’s Rock and advances to the Elite Eight! :tada:

##########################

… and with that we’ve now determined half of our Elite Eight, and even have our first matchup of a Regional Final, with a ticket to the Final Four on the line! Stay tuned, and keep those throws coming! :+1:

Quick Summary:

:oh_noes:

Not quite as much excitement tonight as this afternoon, but that’s probably okay, given all the :skull_and_crossbones: from earlier today and yesterday. We’re still  on the soyleche/A_Student Game 7, but that just means we’ll have some excitement to kick off next week (it’s always good for ratings to end the week on a cliffhanger!). In the meantime AbstractActuary is now one throw away from elimination, bur we’ve already seen a few folks rally from a 3-1 deficit, so I wouldn’t count out AbstractActuary just yet!

Hope everyone had a good :shamrock: day! Stay tuned, and keep those throws coming! :+1:
