March Madness 2022 (a.k.a the annual Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament)

Sounds dirty — I like it.

Unbeknownst to @Celalta, I’ve finally found a pair of scissors that’ll actually cut rock!!
:judge:

At least, unbeknownst until now.

And still trying to figure out how to get these scissors to cut paper . . .
:grimacing:

Maybe they’re left-handed scissors

So are we supposed to submit something now?

Yes.

I’ve even submitted mine for round 2 since my opponent, the very capable, clever, and conniving @NumericalNeuroticism, received a first round bye as did I.

Honestly, I’m surprised to have made it out of the first round this year.

I have too many DM threads going right now, so @JFG — I’m just going to submit my throws in this thread, please don’t look.

My Game 1 throws

Booo

Totally missed this thread

Next year…

I have a problem of…throwing…too quickly.

That can happen to anyone. Just remember to pace yourself — it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Is there a preferred format for the PMs? Or just like the example above?
Can I submit multiple rounds at the same time?

:ctm:

I’ve used the initials, so it would be good to know if that is not preferred so I can fix it.

My first time was playing last year and I submitted all of my round 1 together and then the FAQ updated to be single submissions (I think) because all of my later submissions were one at a time.

:pizza: sqrt( )

After all these years of running this tournament, we have become very flexible on the formats we will accept. That being said, second most common is the format above, or even more common is just using letters (R-S-P-P-R, for the example above).

You have the option to submit as many as you want ahead of time, but of course by doing so, you lose the opportunity to react to your opponent’s throws… so choose wisely!

One other clarification I forgot to announce when I posted the brackets:

After further review:

  • All regional matches will be Best-of-5
  • All Final Four matches will be Best-of-7

:judge:

… and we have the first update of the day, so we’re really, really underway!!

Three completed games in the first update, which is a decent start :+1:, but I gotta give props to JFG and Mountainhawk for making the first two throws of the tournament… against each other! Ya gotta love it when you’ve got two players who are that eager to play!

Keep those throws coming - let’s keep this strong start going!
