not live, bc i missed that 10-star luxury boat, but I am excited for the Taylor Swift IMAX concert film that was just announced
Saw Lyle Lovett a few weeks back. Looking forward to Marcia Ball and Alejandro Acevedo in a couple months (different days). Both will be playing a small local venue (about 100ish seat max).
Next show I have tickets for is Jason Isbell at the Ryman in October
I canât believe the gymnastics my oldest daughter and her 18 year old daughter went through to try to get tickets for Taylor Swift in Toronto in November 2024. They were unsuccessful but the $$ it would have cost (they live in Vancouver) were huge. The IMAX option sounds much more sensible.
The cost of the tickets for The Beatlesâ live concert in Toronto in 1964 were only $4: live concert prices have far outstripped inflation for the top acts.
The Pixies (in Vancouver).
My daughter, her husband and my son went to see them last night. Good concert. I didnât get invited to go because someone had to babysit their little onesâŚ.
Love the Pixies live, I saw them twice in Denver. Last time was the Doolittle anniversary tour where they played the album straight through to start.
Owl City on Wednesday!
Pixies are always fun. Iâve seen them twice, and saw Frank Black solo like 20 years ago.
My son and daughter loved The Pixies concert as they were both long term fans. Had to smile when they said they found the music a bit loud; I donât expect they felt that way when they listened to them as teenagers.
proving the maxim âif itâs too loud, youâre too old.â
I took my youngest daughter and her buddies to a David Bowie concert here about 20 years ago (I scored our corporate box at the hockey arena as it was often unclaimed for rock concerts: earned a âbest dad everâ award for that). The Bowie concert was great in every way but the opening act was unbelievably loud. Only time in my rock concert years that I regretted not bringing ear plugs. However I do keep a pair in my pocket for current concerts, just in case.
August 9, 1983, BC Place?
First concert ever there?
Opening acts were The Tubes and Peter Gabriel.
(According to The Internet.)
The Bowie concert with my daughter was more recent: in 2004, at the hockey arena where the Canucks play. The 1983 concert was in the football stadium.
This was the concert we went to.
Oh, shoot, I did 40 years!!
Mom and I had front row seats in a small venue for Seth Mulder & Midnight Run, a newish bluegrass band. Mix of classics plus own material. Sitting up close you can really be amazed by the virtuosity. Very nice, reminded me about why I love live performances, should go to more.
i like small venues for being able to see just how hard the performers are usually going at it. showing skill all the while.
Going to Foo Fighters next August.
Seeing U2 in Vegas some time in the next month or so.
Saw them in Denver a few years back, we got front row balcony seats - what I like to call the old man front row. FF does not disappoint, start to finish just an amazing show.
Opening on some spots are The Pretenders.
The Sphere ought to be an amazing experience. I am not sure it wouldnât be an overload situation for me. I have trouble adjusting to Imax.
