Lawn equipment: how early is too early?

How early is too early to be using power lawn equipment (mowers, blowers, trimmers,…) in a urban or suburban area? Some people here seem to think once the sun is up it’s acceptable to fire up the power equipment. My neighbor had some guys out there at 7:30 this morning. Even though I was up before then, that’s too early IMO.

The lawn companies show up here around 7:30, too.

I would prefer 8:30 on weekdays and 10 on weekends, but I also recognize that they’re probably trying to beat the heat.

It’s 8am for us weekdays. 10am weekends.

Your local area should have an ordinance about this?

Yes. Prohibited 8pm-8am technically.

In summer here it gets hot so early. I think 7 or 7:30 is fine on weekdays.

Local noise ordinance prohibits loud things from 7pm-7am. 7pm is certainly abused in the summer and several neighbors will be out finishing up with their lawns up to around 9pm.

I usually wait until 9am. I started on Saturday morning around 8:15 since I had things to do.

I would usually wait until 10:00, 8:00 seems to be a norm
at night, as long as it is light, many don’t get a chance until after work

I try to be sensitive to my neighbors and work with them around times. Fortunately, none of them work a graveyard shift, so getting going around 8am is usually no problem (regardless of day of week).

It doesn’t matter what time it happens. It usually occurs when I’m on the phone with the window open or if I’m trying to take a nap. Or tryin’ to get some (IYWIM  )

Does this mean that I should consider my binoculars “lawn equipment”?

I’m generally fine with 8AM weekdays and 9AM on the weekends. I woke up pretty early on Sunday and waited until about 9:45 to start the weed eating for this reason.

Continuing ed, right? Ya need quiet to concentrate and stuff.

I don’t have a definite time, but I absolutely wait to cut the lawn until it’s a bit later, so that I’m not waking up the kids next door. Early-mid morning.
But others in the 'hood don’t do any such thing. some of them are fine at 7:30. I’m long up by then, but I’d still like to enjoy my coffee in peace.
I went to an electric mower last year so I don’t think I’m disturbing the neighbours anyway.

If the sun’s up, it’s daytime, and daytime is when you do lawnwork. However I personally don’t fire things up until at least 7:30 or so, because I don’t want to.

I might feel differently if I lived in a dense urban area. As it stands, maybe 8 houses could even hear my gas lawnmower.

My local nose ordinance ends at 7am. I asked when the neighbor across the street hired a jack hammer truck to excavate an enormous basement. Damn thing ran 7am to 4pm every day for two months.

I don’t really mind the neighbors’ lawn mowers. I usually wait until 10am or so, so there’s not dew on the lawn.

I like to sleep in. Feel free to make a racket from 9am – 11pm.

My town’s noise ordinance runs 7am-9pm weekdays, 9am-9pm weekends. I wish the start time were 8am on weekdays, since I’m not a morning person, but…

that stinks
