Last Week Tonight

TIL that Lee Greenwood released a God Bless Canada song in 1989 with the same tune and just a few word changes from God Bless the USA.

I have not been able to find anyone who has heard of the Canadian version so suspect it was not a big seller. I guess we are not very patriotic up here.

Wow. Last Week Tonight released its Trump 2.0 episode on YouTube more or less immediately upon release.

(The new season has begun, BTW.) (NSFW for language.)

I imagine a few people here might be interested in the current episode of Last Week Tonight.

YouTube description: “John Oliver details what Medicare Advantage is, why it basically has all the pitfalls of private insurance, and the economic significance of novelty slippers.”

(NSFW because John Oliver.)

I just posted in the professional area this same story.

“Pitfalls of HMOs” is more like it.

My siblings and I grew up watching PBS (and nothing but). We now frequently reference a certain song from a show called Arthur. We will spontaneously sing it, dance it, and send it via text. And in this week’s episode, John Oliver shared that exact clip with the rest of the world!!

(Around the 11:45 mark or so)

It does actually, lol.

Bump, for LWTwJO trashing tRump for his bitcoin thievery.

MoFo has made over a billion dollars by creating bitcoins, “selling” them to people, who then magically get what they want. Lots of people lose money and jimmy-crack-corn.
Same guy who thought a few years ago that it likely a fraudulent thing whatever it is, as seen in the clip.
But, when someone whispered in his ear that as President, he could make big money just by selling this stuff and then giving people what they want, he changed his tune. Allegedly.

I’m guessing there is a long list of people who bought this crap and then magically got what they wanted. He noted three or four on the show.

This could go in any number of threads.
Corruption, American Style for example
