Want to watch A Million Miles Away . . .
But saw Boys in the Boat in the theater. Agree that it was very enjoyable and a great view of life during the Great Depression.

A Million Miles away was well done. Iâd definitely recommend it.
oddly I kept thinking of Blue Beetle, where I felt they made the Latino family look like pathetic stereotypes. I thought the portrayal of the Latin family here was extremely positive
so, the new Kevin Costner movie, is 2 parts, coming out a month apart. that is really odd
It seems that it is four parts
maybe the next two next year
Burnt
Its a funny movie on how crazy the upper levels of what is required at being succesful at global fine dining can be.
More of a European skew to it though. They donât say much about cuisines abroad.
Must rewatch some old Anouk Aimee movies.
Ben Hur (1959 Charlton Heston)
This was one of the first movies I saw in a theatre when it first came out. My dad told me at the time he had seen the 1925 silent movie version of Ben Hur when he was a kid.
on I Love Lucy, she makes a joke that the last movie Ricky took her too involved a chariot and a guy named Ben (or some thing like that). i realized she meant the
1925 verson as the episode predated 1959 wasnât released yet.
i wondered how many people watching in reruns picked up on that.
saw both and read the book, written by a civil war general
Rewatched Four Weddings and a Funeral on my Vancouver to Toronto flight today. Not a fan of Rom-Coms but this one is fun.
In one episode of Married with Children, Al Bundyâs wife wanted to watch âFour Weddings and a Funeralâ. Al said , âPeg, thatâs just five of the same thing.â
Madame Web, muddled origins story with Villain i didnât know and didnât care about, he was poorly written and acted. Throw in 3 undefined side kick stories I guess hoping for. Future franchise that probably wonât happen.
Janet Planet at the theater. Pretty strange little movie right here. Came out at one of the festivals and feels like it. Had an Australian feel to it although supposedly set in western Massachusetts. Janet is a single mom (no mention of dad) with a daughter Lacy. Mom has a number of relationships during the summer Lacy is roughly 12. It is a bit surreal and Iâm not sure what the film is trying to convey.
Inside Out 2 at the theater. Sequel to the blockbuster. Riley is now 13 and a whole new set of emotions come on board. I found it long, dull and cringy, Not really suitable to the 5-10 year old crowd. Too spot on for the 11-15 crowd.
Unfrosted on Netflix. Itâs the movie produced by Jerry Seinfeld.
Youâd think a movie with famous stars and comedians would be good and funny. Nope! It was awful.
The first 3 Hunger Games movies - never saw them or investigated them. They were fine; I can see how they appealed to the masses.
The Iron Claw - Geez, this was good and a tough watch knowing some of the backstory.
Parasite - Mostly good but also bad. But I give it high marks for originality.
Once Upon a Time inâŠHollywood - just a great rewatch.
You know that there was another brother not depicted in the movie? He also committed suicide. So in a sense, real life was even worse.
Despicable Me 4 - a fun addition to the franchise. If youâre a fan of Gru and the Minions slapstick humor youâll probably enjoy this one. If you didnât care for the other sequels, this one probably not going to be your cup of tea. For a 4th movie they havenât degenerated much like some franchises. This is one I personally could have waited on til it came to streaming, but daughter insisted we go and it being 100 degrees the AC theater was a nice respite.
Barbie - I think my expectations were too high. I thought the first half where it got set up was very good, but somehow I was expecting more in the second half. The Will Farrell part seemed like it could have been cut with little loss and I think they could have put the time to better use. Maybe Mattel forced them to include it?
Table 19 - Anna Kendrick at a wedding of her best friend who no longer is a best friend because Anna and the brideâs brother very recently broke up their relationship. Not even Anna Kendrick helps in the movie. The script just isnât very good and what seems like it intends to be a comedy seems to spend a lot of time not being a comedy. And they feel obliged to solve the problems of everyone at the table, which I suppose is expected, but thereâs not enough time to do that in any reasonable way with so many characters.
Watched a Jack White doc on Prime from 2018. Eh.
âA Family Affairâ on Netflix. Ugh. Hallmark Channel all over it. It was somewhat funny at the beginning with Zach Efron being the stereotypical Hollywood face guy with a diva mentality, but quickly devolves into hokey, AI-level writing.
