Last movie you've watched

Tuner at the theater. Probably gone by now, but I really liked this one. Dustin Hoffman is the piano tuner in ill health and he has an apprentice with a bit of a back story. It feels a little bit like Baby Driver in a very good way. I found the story inventive and fairly tense. Highly recommend if you can find it.

Disclosure Day at the theater. I disagree with the previous comments about this one. I thought it was very well done. I will agree that by the end, there are some unanswered questions and some fairly big plot holes, as well as being a bit slow to start. However, I haven’t seen a movie like this one before. The woman sitting next to us spent the second half literally on the edge of her seat, bolt upright. I get that reaction too.

Fantastic 4: First Steps (2025) on Disney. Easily the best F4 movie, although the bar was low.

Diplomatic Courier (1952) - Tyrone Power: interesting plot twists

Palm Springs (2020)
Finally got around to watching this one. Andy Samberg stuck in a time loop like Groundhog Day or Russian Doll. It was really good. A couple of really funny parts and some fun twists.

Sheep Detectives. Cute movie, nothing great, a few laughs, formulaic.

Watched half-hour of Casablanca on a plane.
Watched the rest a few days later.

I have lost track of the number of times I have watched the scene in which La Marseillaise is sung.

Just watched the pre-game anthems for the France-Paraguay match in order to hear La Marseillaise. Best national anthem at the World Cup. Too nice a day here to watch the actual match though.

Just watched Afterlife of the Party on Netflix. Kinda Meh.

Undertone (2024) HBO - I watched this so you don’t have to. Low-budget psychological horror flick following a podcaster going through a series of tapes.

Minions & Monsters - unless you have 5-10 year olds who love the minions, skip this one.

Gone Girl (2014) Netflix - she be cray, cray but well done psychological thriller.

Project Hail Mary (Amazon Prime): Great adaptation of a great book. I thought they did an especially good job with Rocky. I didn’t always find Ryan Gosling believable as the scientist anti-hero though.

Book is alright, too.

just watched as well. I agree with your review, but I think Gosling was a good choice, because in the book I didn’t fully buy Grace as a scientist either.

Remarkably Bright Creatures. I recall the book being better, as is usually the case.

he’s so different from the mental picture I have that I refuse to watch the movie.

Project Hail Mary, watched this yesterday. Was pretty well done.

I have not read the book. I’ve only read one of his other books, Artemis, which was just OK.

Disclosure Day

The book is excellent. Better than the movie, which I also liked.

Enola Homes 3 - one of those movies that’s OK but not great while watching and probably as forgettable as the first two later on when I try to recall them.
