Last movie you've watched

I watched Fatherhood this weekend for this express purpose (crying), it didn’t do the (full) trick, so I watched Dumplin’ (again…I didn’t realize I had already watched it when I heard the name) last night. Worked better. Thanks :+1:

Also watched Gunpowder Milkshake and agree with YT. The violence and mayhem is John Wickian. I enjoyed it.

The Fast and The Furious (2001)
Extremely meh.

the first two were the worst

“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” (2019)
Very good. Highly recommend.

IMO, watching the documentary on Mr. Rogers first, and then watching the movie (which isn’t about Mr. Rogers himself so much as it shows his impact) made the movie that much more enjoyable.

I did the same. The documentary was just as good, if not better. Mathew Rhys was awesome, as was Chris Cooper (not sure what he isn’t good in), and I think Tom Hanks gave a great performance, as understated as it was.

Can’t watch this movie without bawling.

Captain America: The First Avenger

Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. The story is fairly lame, but the acting is top notch all around.

Ode to Joy with Martin Freeman as a man with cataplexy, a disease that causes him to go limp when he feels joy or happiness. Not to bad, a little predictable, sort of a rom-com. Great scene with Melissa Rauch playing the cello and singing Zombie. Guest appearance by Jane Curtin.

The Last Mercenary with JCVD trying to save the son he abandoned years ago. I used dubbing rather than subtitles and that may not have been the best choice. Engaging enough, he uses a rag tag bunch to help him with “the mission”.

“Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage” (2021)

Gawd, what a shit show. I mean, the movie was good, but holy shit.
This was on HBO, part of a six-part “Music Box” set of documentaries.

The Vault on Netflix starring Freddie Highmore. This is a heist movie and pretty well done, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Secrets and Lies (1996)
Very good, though a bit dated by now.

Suicide Squad 2021 - meh. DC still struggles with super hero theme even with a Marvel director.

I thought it was much more entertaining and interesting than the original, but they really need to improve the villains. First Wonder Woman is still probably the best DC film (post-Nolan trilogy), but this might be 2nd.

Better than the original is a low bar. The original WW was good. Shazam was enjoyable as well. Most of the DC universe of films outside of a couple Batman films which were hit and miss have been meh to poor.

The SS did have some going parts a few funny lines but over all it was just ok and quickly forgotten.

I also watched The Suicide Squad. Not a very good movie as noted above. Glad I saw it on HBO Max rather than doling out cash at the theater. Maybe I’m just worn out on superhero movies, but this one really didn’t offer much new. Seemed like it was meant to be a screed on American imperialism and what one person, or a handful can do to right the wrongs.

The Green Knight - I didn’t understand a bunch of it and had to do some research afterwards to figure out what I saw. I have very little Arthurian background. It is long, very slowly paced and it feels like very little happens. I didn’t hate it, but I don’t think I’d watch it again.

Watching 12 Monkeys. Seen it a few times before, decent movie, very 90’s. I enjoy seeing how we thought the future would look, a few decades ago.
