Well seeing as how retailers (other than Nordstrom) already put up their Christmas displays in October anyway, probably not much would change.
You people really don’t like Presidents Day, do you?
I believe unanimous senate approval is required for passing a federal holiday. A single holdout held it up in 2020.
It’s the worst basis for a holiday of all the days I get off, imo. It started well with Washington and Lincoln’s birthdays, but once it got combined into all Presidents it no longer made any sense for America. A mere step removed from Monarchs’ Day.

holocaust remembrance day - lots of jews were murdered
yum kippur - the day of atonement
passover - fun day to eat matzoh and drink lots of wine and pray and stuff.
…none of these holidays are federal holidays.
2.4% of adult Americans are Jewish. I’m sure the African American figure is quite a bit higher…
so they are just enough of a marginalized minority group to get MORE federal holidays assigned to them, but not too low as to get NO federal holidays assigned to them?
I think that’d make more sense in Germany/Austria/Poland?
a lot of american jews are descendants of people who fled to the US from those places to avoid getting murdered. we’d like a day please. also lots of others who were murdered because the US wouldn’t take them in. we would also like a day for those people.
