Like I said, there are shenanigans. And they only look back like two years I think. So she can gift everyone she knows $16,000 today, drag the appeal out for two years, declare bankruptcy, and then everyone she knows gifts her $16,000 plus interest once the bankruptcy goes through.
She can also invent bogus reasons that she owes people money and “repay” the “loan” now if $16,000 per person isn’t enough. And of course she can gift more and lower her tax-free inheritance… not sure if she cares about that or not. I don’t think she has kids.
I wonder if she can create a foundation that she’s in charge of. I don’t know if that would be an asset or not.
She can move to Florida and buy as much house as she has money, live there for two years, and file in Florida which exempts the entire value of your home with no limit. So say she buys a $10 million home in Miami for cash. She can live there for two years, file for bankruptcy, keep the $10 million house. Then once the bankruptcy is final she sells the $10 million house, buys a $2 million house, and she’s got $8 million to live on. Using the 4% rule for withdrawals, that’s an annual income of $320,000. Not what she’s making now, but not a terrible existence by any means.
Depp can’t put a lien on the house if the case is being appealed.

And of course all of that presupposes that she loses the appeal. Which honestly seems unlikely to me if she can keep paying the lawyers. If I am not mistaken there is no jury in appeals court.
I think the jury is why she lost in the regular court.
I doubt she’s getting any $100 million, mind you. But I can’t see how she defamed Depp by calling him an abuser if they find even one case of him abusing her. So I’d think he’d get $0 and she’d get some non-zero amount.
But just in case, she can move to Florida and buy that $10,000,000 house while the appeal drags out.

Also, the house bit is basically what OJ Simpson did, I believe. I very much doubt that this has occurred to no one on her legal team.

Juries are not sacrosanct. A jury decided that the cops did not use unreasonable force against Rodney King.

I’ve made up my mind about Depp. I’m not quite sure what to think about her. I don’t think I’d want to be her new BFF; she sounds unstable. Doesn’t mean she wasn’t abused though. In fact, I suspect unstable people are more likely to be abused.

I do think Depp’s lawsuit was without merit because I do think Heard was abused by Depp.

I watched a good few minutes of the Depp lawyer grilling Amber about her claims and she was caught in at least a couple lies - it really only takes one lie for me to decide someone sucks.
