It was nothing to do with counts. it was about the money they command in the market. If she had won on 2 counts and he won on one he still would have walked away with more. I’m not really arguing this particular case as I can’t read their minds and given their respective cognitive states I don’t even think THEY know exactly what went down. Neither of them is someone I care for.
But even had he lost on everything he might well have managed cost her more in legal fees than the judgment. That’s a systemic problem that the civil court system, meant to provide redress, perpetuates the inequity of wealth.

He has the financial power to destroy her. And he’s trying to. She can’t destroy him, only cost him some money while still leaving him fabulously wealthy. That’s what it boils down to.

This is wrong. Rich people win because they can afford powerful attorneys. They both spent big money on attorneys. Heard spent big money on a PR team. It still wasn’t enough because no one believed her lies. Except you and twig.
Wtf lol. She’s the one who wrote the op ed. She’s the one who said she would take him down and no one would believe him because she’s a woman… she’s getting what she deserved. The entire point of this trial was to defend himself from the op Ed. I hope she loses everything

This is an interesting read. Women will definitely still be listened to and will have the benefit of the doubt, as they should when they aren’t obviously lying.
I suspect they are right. Basically, our court system sucks as compared to the UK system.

I’ve been in Disneyland the last few days. In the various shows (world of color, fantasmic), whenever jack sparrow comes on a lot of people cheered really loudly. Not sure if it is just because people really like the character still or if it is a response to the verdict.

That’s really disturbing. Yet another reason to not go to Disneyland or any other Disney parks.
I said nothing about whether I believed her. I said that he had the pot to push her all in. They should award nominal damages in cases like this IMO.
It’s not Disney’s fault that the talented, charismatic actor they hired years ago turns out to have been an abusive shit who could play a jury.
But yeah, i can see that being upsetting to hear, even so.

I’ve seen a lot of shows like this over the years, and when jack sparrow shows up there is always a lot of cheering. It’s been a few years, so I would expect it to have lessened, but maybe not.
I don’t doubt that the verdict had an impact though.

I think I’m in the camp that Depp is a villain. Heard may also be a vilian.
It makes me sad, because I’ve loved him as an actor.
