I have some sympathy for Sheeran. My assumption is that he just wants to go around playing music. He was hurled into this debate by the actions of someone else, and his response was simply an attempt to keep going around playing music. It does make him look bad though. Curious what his response will be, if any, now that he’s stuck in the middle of it.
The Trump administration is preparing a multibillion-dollar sale of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel in the largest single sale of the controversial munition in recent years, a U.S. official told The Washington Post.
Though described as a sale, the transaction is financed through a mechanism known as Foreign Military Financing, in which the United States provides the money that Israel uses to buy the weapons.
When asked about the humanitarian concerns, a senior administration official, said: “All foreign arms sales are moving through the appropriate process. We do not comment on pending sales.” The Israeli Embassy did not respond to a request for comment.
The size of the package eclipses previous sales of 2,000-pound munitions to Israel during the Biden administration and the Trump administration, including a controversial $2.04 billion sale in 2025 that bypassed the normal congressional review process.
The 2,000-pound bombs have been employed by Israel on hundreds of occasions in Gaza and Lebanon, playing a significant role in the death toll of those conflicts. Israel has drawn criticism for routinely dropping MK-84s in zones it designated as safe for civilians in Gaza.

To all of my Jewish brothers and sisters: criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you. My message is for peace; love for all human beings to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality.
But seriously, you know our politics here in the US are toxic, why one Earth as a non-political entertainer, would you want to be seen taking either side, or let that become part of a show that are you trying to put on?
Tell people to vote. Tell people be good neighbors and take care of each other. Plenty of universal messages that can point in a direction without stepping in the shit.
In my experience, Americans are against musicians/athletes/etc. talking politics when they say stuff against their politician, but totally on-board with it when they’re on your side.
See for example Dixie Chicks vs. Keith Urban, the love and support that Republicans have for Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, and Kanye West.
Musicians and artists have a long history of being political. Look at the fight between Lynard Skinner and Neil Young, CCR’s Fortunate Son, Rage Against the Machine and folk music in general. McCarthy went after a ton of people in entertainment over their politics. During WWII, and likely WWI as well movies were used as political tools to promote the war effort.
If business people, and other prominent people can use their platforms to push politica, why not entertainers if they want to? Its definitely a bit of a financial risk as you may lose part of your customer base, but people don’t seem.to have an issue with it if business people do it.
