Israel - Hamas War October 2023

You would think as highly trained and highly disciplined as the Israeli soldiers are, they would be able to pick out actual Hamas members from ordinary Palestinians and only shoot the Hamas members instead of picking off innocent people.

You would, as has been the case for 20 months now, be wrong. Israeli soldiers apparently have an uncanny ability to hit innocent Palestinians that they’re intentionally starving, as today’s killing of another 51 Palestinians for sport shows.

I’m at the point where I’m disgusted with Israel for what it’s doing, but I’m maybe more disgusted with Western governments for being mamby pandy with Israel as each new atrocity occurs and as [more] evidence of past atrocities is discovered, because … it’s like Stockholm Syndrome at the world level, or something.

Hamas is using human shields /s

I don’t know, everyday there’s a massacre at an aid site. Everyday the available witnesses, medics, aid suppliers, etc. see soldiers or tanks or drones shooting into a crowd. The IDF is reviewing the footage. The GHF has no comment. The aid suppliers are seeing less aid distributed, and that the aid that is distributed is being distributed unfairly to those strong enough to get to the front of the line.

It seems to me the most charitable explanation is that the limited sites are forcing people into crowds. And Hamas getting Israel to shoot into the crowds. And if so, Hamas is getting away with it.

At the moment anyway, I have hard time seeing how the aid sites achieve any of Israel’s goals-- Not killing Hamas, not feeding people, and not convincing residents or outsiders that they’re the good guys.

Except, Israel’s goals really are:

  • Not killing Hamas
  • Not feeding people
  • Not convincing residents our outsiders that they’re the good guys

And it’s doing that by setting up “aid sites” to do the 2nd thing while avoiding the 1st. The 3rd is really more aspirational, because Israel DNGAF what anyone else thinks and it’s going to exterminate Palestinians and anyone else it deems to be an enemy until someone forces them to stop.

/s noted.

But when every time Israel goes after Hamas fighters, and there are human shields there to deter Israel from killing the fighters, and every time they shoot and kill a bunch of human shields anyway, what is the conclusion?
A) Hamas is really dumb to think their human shields are stopping anything?
B) Israel doesn’t give a shit about the human shields, as long as they get to kill the target?
C) Are the targets actually being selected because they come with human shields?

55k dead from a 2M population is difficult to achieve without some amount of all 3.

Or the human shields line is a load of BS.

Well, that is possible, but I guess I am starting from FAs stated position that Hamas hides among the innocents, and this explains the high death counts. If that is true, then what?

Shoot all the hostages, apparently. Probably let all the criminals go in the process, then you keep claiming you need to go after the criminals and you need tens of millions of dollars more in weapons and bullets to go finish the job.

Rinse and repeat.

Probably this.

Hamas seems perfectly willing to sacrifice as many civilians as they can to make Israel look bad and Israel doesn’t seem to shy away from it.

This is pretty much what you get when both military forces are fine with/encourage civilians to die and no outside power cares enough to do anything about it.

Still trying to figure out why so many Palestinian kids are getting shot in the head. You’d think if they were being used as shields more would be shot in the body. Head shots suggest targeted killings to me.

They’re secretly members of Hamas, and they keep throwing themselves in front of senior Hamas members - and amazingly, every one of them goes head-first and manages to plant themselves directly in the path of a bullet.

The alternative is that Israel is intentionally targeting innocent kids with headshots, and … well, that would be bad, and heaven forbid we say that Israel is doing anything bad, so Israel can’t be doing that.

Or maybe, kids aren’t really being shot in the head, and Hamas is lying about it. Or Hamas is killing those who aren’t listening to them, and are actually going to the distribution centers.
Remember, all these stories are coming from Hamas sources.

No, they aren’t. The stories of kids being shot in the head are coming from American healthcare workers, and supported by photographic evidence.

I’m fairly certain you’ve been here long enough to know that by now.

No, YOU’RE fake news!

(checkmate!)

Maybe…but it goes deeper than that. Much deeper. Those American aid workers are secretly Hamas!

They have all been trained in Palestinian language and customs in a remote compound in west Texas. But they are actually infiltrating the Hamas organization under the direct supervision of TULSI, forming a comprehensive intel network to solve the Middle East situation once and for all.
I can’t go into it much more as it could put American field personnel at risk.

I think you’ve said too much already!!

This is also why Israel will never be forgiven.

The stain on the entire country will remain for many generations.

The people that still suppot this charade in their rather toxic nationalistic zeal are kidding themselves orherwise.

Its also worth noting that the these people (and their mentality) are mostly being used by one man (Bibi) to further his own individual and political interests.

He has no plan for what happens after. None whatsoever.

He thinks bringing in chaos now with Iran will bring the US into the region in support (in order to keep himself in power as the conflict drags on).

That is now his entire strategy for keeping this going.

Bringing the US into the conflict.

More Palestinians killed by Israelis for sport.

All so very colorful and imaginative. Here’s the picture that comes to my mind.

It’s 11am in Gaza. The phone text says food aid is going to be opening at 12, at a spot about 1k away. You and your sister tell gramma to watch the 4 children, you grab a suitcase and head off to get food. You are not alone
By the time you get within 1/2 km, you can see a crowd. You are now running with about 20,000 others. All converging on the spot where the food is said to be.
IDF troops, deployed to protect the shipment see a mass of ragged, shouting people rushing in. Some have makeshift clubs, as they try and gain advantage over their competition. The young troops, men and women, are on edge. Then a shot rings out. Then a few more. The crowd becomes frenzied. Tragedy ensues.

Totally off the top of my head.

I’m hearing about this from international doctors working in Gaza. Not from Hamas.
