hamas has full control over that
So killing more people after killing 40k is the best strategy to get them back?
and you believe hamas would negotiate at all if Israel stopped?
Seems like Hamasâ motivation to negotiate will only decrease as more things are destroyed and more people are killed. Or maybe now they need to justify the 40k dead as worth it, so the demands will be higher.
No one ever trusts the enemy. Sometimes ceasefires last, sometimes they donât. Endless war or absolute extermination seem like the other options at this point.
Iâm not convinced hamas will negotiate either wayâŚ
Maybe Hamas wonât negotiate, but maybe figuring out how to give the Palestinians some dignity and taking away some of the reason for Hamas to exist and have support from the Palestinians might be ⌠nah, thatâs stupid, itâs better if we perpetuate centuries of killing and retribution with more killing and retribution and believe somewhere along the way it will magically stop.

Too many defenders of the Israeli actions seem to be along the lines of âthey had it comingâ. Yes, Hamas was supported by civilians. And no, that doesnât imply there is no moral or ethical objections to be had.
A quick hypothetical might work here. Imagine a hostage situation at your local middle school. 186 students and school personnel are held by 6 gunmen. Theyâve already killed the principal, and are demanding $2bn ransom. Your governor deploys the national guard. Using heavy weapons and mortars, they level the place. 11 of the innocents survive. All 6 terrorists are dead.
No moral qualms at all? Good job all? Sound governance?
Obviously the correct answer involves all of the following:
- It would be too soon to discuss, weâd need to wait until emotions calm down so we could talk rationally about it
- This wouldnât happen if we arm the principal, teachers and students
- This is why every school should have one entrance, one exit
- If we give even an inch to terrorists, then the terrorists will have won
- This is why we need another $200 billion for defense to keep us safe
- Back the Blue
- Salute Our Troops
You left out some parts.
The 6 gunmen are part of an organization with 6000 other gunmen living in a safe zone. They have openly called and acted on the call for the extermination of every person in your country. If you give them the money they will use it to fund more attacks. At least 50 of the students are already dead and many of the others are actively being tortured.
But we can kill all 6000 gunmen and all but 11 of the students and like 2 million other people who happen to be in the way if it gets rid of the organization, right?
Cause ⌠Iâm seeing a blueprint to getting rid of drug cartels in Mexico, and Iâm trying to get an idea of how many Mexicans weâre going to wipe out in the name of democracy and freedom.
I wish I could see another way out of this mess.
The right in Israel doesnât care. They will kill millions if need be to achieve their aims. Thats the only thing we have learned from the latest set of attrocities.
Have to agree with this guy.
Hamas has revised the casualty count from the school strike down to 40. Israel says it confirmed 38 Hamas militants were killed. So there you go.
When the U.S. launches an attack on some cartel stronghold in Mexico and kills 40 cartel members and 60 other individuals, including children, and names a random 8-year old there as a cartel member, I hope no one is too critical of the U.S.
I hope thatâs especially true if we say we did it as part of protecting Americans and wiping the cartels out of existence. If those innocent people - or should I say, âinnocentâ people - didnât want to die, maybe they should have voted for someone else whoâd take care of the cartels or done something to get the cartels out. They had choices to leave and didnât take them, so they have no one else to blame but themselves.
Dude, they claimed an 8 year old was a âterroristâ.
Frankly, nothing that comes from the Israeli side can be believed until an external independent and objective entity checks the information.
In the case of Palestinian deaths, they are checked by independent NGOs on the ground, so their numbers are much more believable.
Reminds me of the US drone strike policy - if youâre a military-age male (16 or older) in the vicinity of somebody weâd like to kill, youâre assumed to be complicit with terrorism and therefore acceptable collateral. Plus, Trump killed a number of requirements to report things like the number of innocents we think we killed with drones, among other stats.
Nobody worry about how obliterating innocents from above the clouds will be viewed on the ground - theyâll probably be happy about the US unilaterally murdering their non-terrorist sons/brothers/fathers because somebody else was killed, too.
In Gaza right now (post 10/7)? I thought that wasnât happening due to security situation.
Shhh. You canât bring logic into this. Much less say the quiet part out loud.
