Soon after I bought the car - while I was learning - I found myself in a parking garage where I had to stop on a fairly steep incline to pay. That was stressful.
My dad specifically took me to hills around town so that I would learn to feather the clutch and gas so as not to roll backwards into other cars at lights. Wouldnât let me drive alone until I could do it. My mom would have killed him if she knew, but I thought it was awesome, and I was the gopher (âgo-to the store-pherâ) by the 3rd week of my freshman year (the only year I lived with my dad full time, although it wasnât the driving that ended that).
Because you canât reach back to the backseat for whatever to try to quiet them down if one hand is on the wheel and the other on the gear shift.
Plus how do you eat your fresh fries from Five Guys while using a stick shift?
Jesus, take the wheel!!!
This completely 100% answers the question I had wanted answered, thank you very much for such a thorough thoughtful response!
:toth:
To me, having an excuse not to quiet them down is better. Theyâll get tired of crying eventually. We should take this to the parenting-splaining thread.
Youâre supposed to be buckled in anyway. reaching back while driving,⌠youâll kill yoursellllllllllllll!!!
You only need to have your hand on the gearshift when you are actively changing gears, which is a tiny fraction of the total time you are driving. It takes roughly two seconds.
Even if you are inhaling the fries at a pretty quick clip, you can take two seconds to shift every now & then.
NO FOOD IN THE CAR
So all this time you have to gobble fries in between shifts is time youâre not forced to actively pay attention, right?
seems we have it both ways. Do you have plenty of time to enjoy your fries or are you highly focused!?
I am buckled in while driving.
no, the question is how do u eat a burger, shake, and fries while driving a stick shift?
youâll be cutting up a steak next
The burger is the trickiest one because you have to still hold onto it while shifting. No problem with fries and a shake.
The real driving force behind people wanting self driving cars emerges, ability to eat a drive through steak
Generally not a good idea to eat while driving, stick or not.
However, with a good set-up of the seat and steering wheel, one can steer with their thighs for short distances and with no sharp turns.
Also, helps to keep your carâs wheels well-aligned.
If you had an AV, you can have a full 5 course prix fixe with no issues.
