Insomnia

Lolz It isn’t big. That photo of both kinds is on paper towel, so the stippling should give you an idea of scale. Of course, it was a bit more dispersed and flatter after the hammer.

Anything that requires death by hammer is a “WTF” kind of insect (arachnid?) dude.

Well today I learned the word “stippling”, but I’m with NA on this. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.

Well, I could have put on a gardening glove and smushed it by hand, or possibly used a shoe if it weren’t on the bed in a carpeted room (I have done shoe on hardwood), but I am squeamish so overkill was engaged.

Yeah, that doesn’t help. I’d move.

I got bad news about your Australian visa then.

OMG, I am traumatized by watching Dirty Jobs Down Under. Several episodes over the years dealt with removing poisonous / venomous critters from homes & businesses.

Made me afraid to even visit. I mean, I do kind of want to check it out but :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

Last night was my worst night for falling asleep in forever. Probably bc I scheduled the surgery and then I went and socialized :scream: at ladies pool night. (As in backyard pool.) It was fun and relaxing but I got home at 10 and I tried to go straight to bed and it just didn’t work.

I’m taking the Doxepin every other night and it was an off night, so around 11:45 I went ahead and took it. Then I slept in the recliner some and went back to bed around 3:30?

Stuff I’m learning:

  1. If I attend an evening event, take time to unwind before going to bed.
  2. If I still don’t feel tired after 30-60 min, go ahead and take the dang pill. That’s what it’s for!

I saw my PCP yesterday (check up) and told her sleep dr prescribed Doxepin and that I was taking it every other night. She said 10mg was not the lowest dose and put in a prescription for 6 mg.

It turns out the doses lower than 10 mg are tablets instead of capsules and the are marketed specifically for insomnia and they are somehow under a separate patent. So I can pay $5 for the 10 mg or $60 for the 6 mg. The 10 mg is a capsule so I can’t cut it in half.

I also got a new medicine for overactive bladder and it “may cause drowsiness”. I’m not finding interactions with Doxepin but I’m wondering if this will make me drowsy enough that I don’t need the Doxepin.

I think I’m gonna hold off on that one until after my surgery tho, since I already went over medications with the ortho people.

Geez! Is the 10mg capsule filled with powder? I’d be tempted to take it apart and make two capsules with it. You can buy empty capsules on Amazon pretty cheap.

No idea how easy or hard that would be though. Even if you literally just took the 10 mg capsule, opened it up and dumped 40% of the contents down the drain that would be cheaper than buying 6 mg. :woman_shrugging:

It might be filled with little pellets rather than powder, and I’d wonder if 5mg is sufficient, you could probably visually divide it if it is the pellets. Just sprinkle this on a spoon of applesauce… or ice cream.

I may have had to do something similar to this when my kid was an infant and the powdered version of a reflux med was out of stock…

The price and dosing on the secondary patent almost makes the pill config sound intentional.

Oh, I’m pretty sure it was intentional. And no, I won’t be purchasing any more 6 mg tablets at this price. I have enough of the 10 mg capsules that I can play around with a couple and see what works.

Yeah if 5 mg vs 6 mg is material then you can still try to create 6 mg capsules, it’s just slightly more annoying.

My brain somehow decided this is a great time to revisit the moment my mom died. I can’t even keep lying in bed with that.

Thanks. It was pretty disturbing as the thoughts were on her physical appearance. I worked hard to block that out.
