Improved health and lifestyle from quitting drinking

IMO if your friend was over 21 that should be allowed. :woman_shrugging:

It’s stupid that they’d sell it to him without you but not with you.

Eh, it was a college town at a party college, and I can admit in probably 90% of similar cases, it would be the elder buying alcohol for an underage. I’m not sure their legal obligations to ensure they’re not selling to somebody who will give it to a minor, but I can see covering your ass by carding everybody in a group.

(1) not very manly of him

(2) got a bottle of di=om shipped to my house by a vendor. said right on the slip ā€œSIGNED BY 21+ā€ my 18yr old signed for the package bc she didn’t know what it was.

liquor stores are super uptight sometimes about ā€œeveryone in the group at the counter has to have valid ID.ā€ that liquor license is the key to working and they overprotect bc they have to try to avoid the obv stuff.

Yeah, when I have bought alcohol at the grocery store with my husband, they always card both of us. And since we often walk, I don’t usually keep my ID on me, so I have started just sending him through the check out lane alone as a result.

Of course when I have bought alcohol with my kids with me, no one bats an eye.

Liquor license was also pretty expensive to obtain, and don’t want to have to buy another one after losing it (if that’s even allowed in some states).
Also guessing that the underage market is not the major demographic driving force, though I’ll second-guess that after looking at all the fruity malt liquors and wine coolers (gateway alcohol).

It’s a dumb rule that everyone in the line must be 21 or a child.

If it’s legal for a 21 year old to buy it and the store sells it to a 21 year old they have not broken the law.

If the 21 year-old then does something illegal with it (like furnish it to a 20 year-old who is not their kid) that should not bite the store in the ass. That’s on the 21 year-old.

The store should not be expected to ascertain the likelihood that the 21 year-old will do something illegal with it. It’s the kind of thing that punishes honest people like NA and me and does exactly nothing to prevent underage drinking. The guy buying it for the minor is aware of the rule, knows what he’s doing, and will ensure the minor isn’t around. Meanwhile honest folks get punished. It’s pure theater.

IMO

Hah, I picked up a stalker on Reddit because I posted something anti-Trump in a local town subreddit. Now he’s following me around and responding to me with my posts from /r/stopdrinking and calling me an alcoholic.

Like… yeah? I am. I don’t get the point, but he’s apparently watching my history and responding to my comments with my own comments about my path of sobriety.

It doesn’t bother me, I’m just confused by the amount of effort. I just posted to /r/stopdrinking and literally 10 minutes afterward he was quoting my own post to me, and this began yesterday. I reported him for harassment, but at least if he’s going to waste his life, it’s on me who won’t relapse.

Could this be automated? Not saying it is aliens…

Once AI gets good enough to do that it will be ugly.

Nah, it’s a known troll on our local subreddit. I reported it for harassment. Might get him banned.

Naw.

Rastiln is a bot. All us bots know that.

How does something so low calorie taste so much like a beer?!

How well does it go down in the shower?

I was just about to bump that thread.

I think bravus tastes better overall, but yeah, I’ll happily give up slightly better taste for the 80% calorie reduction.

I did enjoy Bravus, I was getting them delivered frequently, but yeah, they don’t fit well into a lower carb diet.

I really liked their darker beer, I don’t remember if it was a stout or a porter, but it was good. IMO better than Guinness 0.0, there is just something about that I find off/distracting. Guinness was one of my favorite beers when I drank, so maybe I’m just too particular.

Where’s the sig line thread?

Summary from :speech_balloon: GPT:

The article underscores that alcohol, a toxin, poses heightened risks to young adults due to their developing brains. The intricate changes occurring in the adolescent brain, including a prolonged rewiring process until at least age 25, contribute to increased vulnerability. Factors like smaller body size and a higher head-to-body ratio mean that even small amounts of alcohol can result in higher blood alcohol content for young people. The article challenges the myth of a ā€œhealthy European drinking cultureā€ and suggests that stricter drinking laws, with an older minimum age, may encourage more responsible consumption. Despite the scientific evidence, implementing a legal drinking age of 25 faces challenges, and experts emphasize the importance of better alcohol education to promote responsible habits.
