From the article, it sounds like criminal convictions and jail sentences were appropriate. However, the sentences seem a bit excessive.
For comparison, Enrique Tarrio got 22 years for seditious conspiracy to overthrow the government.

Prosecutors in the case charged and secured conviction of eight of the nine defendants for providing material support for terrorists. The ninth defendant, Daniel Sanchez-Estrada was not at the protest, but was convicted of corruptly concealing a document or record after prosecutors said he moved leftwing zines and other materials at the request of Rueda, his wife, after she was arrested. Sanchez-Estrada was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Tuesday.
Side note: Given the sentences, I had assumed that the officer had died, didn’t realize he had survived.

The man killed in a shooting by an ICE officer in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday was not the target of an arrest warrant[…] A 26-year-old Colombian man who was authorized to work in the United States and had been issued a Social Security number was killed in the morning shooting
“An illegal alien [Ed. this is known to be a lie] departed the residence in a vehicle. ICE law enforcement attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The vehicle attempted to flee the scene and fearing for public safety an officer discharged his weapon,” the ICE spokesperson said.
King told reporters at a news conference Monday that Mullin said that body cameras have been widely distributed but that they are not everywhere, “and apparently not in Biddeford, Maine.” King added that he was told the cameras were coming, possibly in 45 days, “but that doesn’t help us in this case.”
No mention even of the victim trying to “use the vehicle as a weapon” in this case. Whatever he should have done by the book, evading ICE is not worthy of execution.

The victim was a 26-year-old Colombian man who was authorized to work in the United States, according to the Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition. He was shot dead Monday morning.
A second video shared by journalist Sam Stein shows ICE agents removing the man’s body from the car and dropping it headfirst on the ground. He appeared to have been handcuffed. The agents involved in the shooting were not wearing body cameras, according to the Portland Press Herald.
“Objectively, this is a video of a car slowly turning and ICE agents walking alongside it,” Stein, who shared the first video on X, wrote. “Hard to understand how we could end up with ANOTHER deadly shooting here.”
A neighbor named Em — who asked that her last name be withheld out of fear of ICE — watched from her window as agents stopped the car and pulled the driver out. “No one went to him and no one did anything,” she said.
Daniel Boucher had been getting ready for work when he heard the shots. He watched agents pull the driver from the car. “He was bleeding profusely from the head,” Boucher said. "He was talking. He said, ‘I tried to stop.’"
Laws are more like suggestions.
MANHATTAN (CN) — Immigration and Customs Enforcement has made yet another arrest at a New York City immigration court, despite a May ruling from a federal judge that broadly blocked such detentions.
U.S. District Judge Kevin Castel, a George W. Bush appointee, ruled May 18 that ICE never had the legal justification to make these arrests. His order, which applied to immigration courts in Manhattan, kneecapped the agency’s controversial strategy of detaining people as they arrived for mandatory immigration hearings.
Despite that, ICE has made at least six arrests in Manhattan immigration courts since Castel issued his order. The latest arrest came on Thursday, when agents detained Bronx resident Matar Ndiaye while he was “dutifully attending an immigration court hearing for his asylum claim,” according to court filings.

Ex-wife says ICE agent who killed man in Maine had racist beliefs, violent tendencies
“He has displayed racism. His nickname in high school was ‘White Boy David,’ if that tells you anything,” she said.
Ashley Brouillette said she has known David Brouillette since they were preteens. She said there were many moments of violence in their marriage that lasted from 2007 to 2009. “There was an incident where we had been fighting, and I walked away and I got in the shower, and he comes in with a gun and pointed at me and tells me that he’s going to blow my brains all over the bathtub,” she told NPR.
[…] She did, however, keep a profanity-laced voicemail message from November, when she had filed a restraining order against her ex-husband. In the voicemail, which NPR obtained, he slurs his speech and ends by saying that she and the women in her family should have their throats cut.
“Am I threatening that I’m gonna do that? No, no. But do I think that you should have your f****** throat cuts? Or should have had them cut. Yep,” the voicemail says.
Ashley Brouillette is unsure if there was a background check. If there had been, they might have seen a trail of violence. Like the time, in 2022, when Ashley says child protective services and the police were both called to his home after he threw his then-13 year-old daughter through a glass coffee table.
In a 2021 court filing, David Brouillette was stripped of his firearms temporarily. In the filing, his second ex-wife, Lucinda Brouillette, accused him of becoming more aggressive with their then 13-year-old daughter. "He asked her if she thought he was verbally abusive and she told him yes and he grabbed her feet and dragged her out of bed, laughed and asked if he thought she was physically abusive now," Lucinda Brouillette wrote in the document.
In Ohio case, federal judge says warrantless ICE arrests are illegal, but denies motion to stop them
U.S. District Judge Sarah D. Morrison, a 2018 Trump appointee, ruled that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents had made many arrests in Ohio that “deeply trouble the Court.” They were illegal, she said, because they were made without a warrant and without making a determination that a person would flee before a warrant could be obtained.
Then she dismissed the case because she said the plaintiffs didn’t do an adequate job of showing the Trump administration is likely to keep making such arrests. She made the ruling even as ICE insists it doesn’t need warrants.
ICE’s own website flatly says its agents don’t need warrants to arrest people they believe are in violation of immigration law.
“ICE does not need judicial warrants to make arrests,” it says. “Like all other law enforcement officers, ICE officers and agents can initiate consensual encounters and speak with people, briefly detain aliens when they have reasonable suspicion that the aliens are illegally present in the United States, and arrest people they believe are illegal aliens.” Even so, Judge Morrison said the plaintiffs fell short because they didn’t show federal immigration arrests are always warrantless or that the agencies have a written policy to act illegally. She cited internal documents saying agents needed to get warrants in cases where escape wasn’t imminent.
“In this case, Plaintiffs have not shown that all of Defendants’ agents always make warrantless arrests without determining the non-citizen arrestee’s likelihood of escape,” she wrote.
