Another dangerous illegal immigrant apprehended by ICE. An irony is that this 85 year old French woman was a supporter of Trump’s deportation policies.
Canadian sues DHS over it having compelled Google, et. al. to hand over his data.

I’ll admit that I’m curious about what John Doe posted online to provoke this kind of investigation, as in less crazy times I could imagine a more arguable need for the feds to investigate. However, hotel WiFi sucks / I have an early morning tomorrow, so my seeking out a copy of the suit will have to wait until I return back to dystopia.

Let’s badly screw up air travel too
Sounds like the Trump.administration wants to kill off international tourism.
Building on their success in reducing Canadian tourism.
Travel to the U.S. is down even more dramatically than we thought, data shows

Last October, 6 protestors were arrested and charged with felonies outside the ICE facility in Broadview, IL. Prosecutors subsequently dropped the felony charges, and were going to proceed with misdemeanor charges (rarely done in federal court). Today, all charges were dropped due to irregularities with the grand jury (allegedly the grand jury declined initially to indict, the prosecutors removed jurors who were no votes, then tried again to indict).
Parente [defense attorney], who was a federal prosecutor for 15 years, said he had never heard of anything as bad as the conduct in the Broadview Six grand jury sessions. He said that while he has not yet been able to review the unredacted transcripts, Judge April Perry gave a summary in court of her impressions. She said she had reviewed thousands of pages of grand jury transcripts in her career and had never seen anything worse than what she saw in these pages.
Parente said during the grand jury sessions, prosecutors used vouching, which he called a “101 no-no for any prosecutor,” kicked out grand jury members who disagreed with them, did not disclose that a No True Bill – which indicates no indictment – had been returned to either the defense or the public. Parente also said that after receiving the No True Bill from one grand jury, they re-presented their case after excluding grand jurors who disagreed with them. The grand jury then returned a True Bill to indict the “Broadview Six.”
Parente also said that while Judge Perry thought only 30 lines in the transcript had been redacted, prosecutors actually left out entire pages and never informed her.
Maybe there’s a fund where he can request compensation.
This is basically designed to make it easier for the US to deny green cards, as you introduce a couple more public functionaries in the decision-making process outside of the country. Normally, you can apply for these things in country and your existing visa (say H1B) converts into the new status.
I have no doubt this came from Miller.
Will be challenged in Court but they will cause quite a bit of chaos in the meantime.
Wish that rule was in effect when Elon was applying. In all seriousness I checked mean processing time and it is currently 493 days. I wonder how many employers will keep a position open for that length of time,
From the GOP darndest things thread:
It’s a bit more than that, it looks like:
Not strictly ICE’s doing…but weird nonetheless.
NPR has taken a look at the administration’s efforts to denaturalize folks.
(tl;dr: Despite the rhetoric, it’s not as bad as feared…or as easy as the administration might wish.)
There’s no way this could go wrong. /s
For the “we don’t have a problem if we don’t count” files:
ICE is on video recording, ignoring and showing disregard for new CT law restricting LEO mask use.
(In fairness, the supremacy clause likely gives ICE cover for doing so.)
