Probably paywalled for you. Aside from the Palantir employees being concerned about being the bad guys, another part caught my attention. The ICE database may categorize you as a domestic terrorist for observing ICE or honking your horn to announce their presence:
On Friday, independent journalist Ken Klippenstein shared a video showing what appears to be an ICE agent scanning a legal observer’s car. When the observer asks why the agent is documenting their vehicle, the agent responds, saying, “We have a nice little database, and now you’re considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that.” (This does not appear to be an isolated incident; according to a declaration filed last week in support of Minnesota’s lawsuit versus Kristi Noem, an ICE agent shattered a car window before detaining the two people inside, telling them their actions—honking the car horn to alert nearby bystanders to ICE’s presence—amounted to “domestic terrorism.”)

DHS trying another angle since the video evidence contradicts their narrative. No further comment.
We accidentally filled him full of lead is quite the flip from a domestic terrorist attacked us. Fox and CBS have the spin doctors working overtime tonight.

As a US citizen and a white southerner, I hope I am breaking your stereotypes of what my opinions might be. I share common ground with virtually all of family and friends. In most of the US, it’s blue cities surrounded by red country. As an owner of a place in a rural spot as well, fear mongering is apparently extremely effective,

Saw that theory floated on X and it seemed like nonsense. The agent was walking away with the gun pointed down. There were a couple frames called out when it supposedly happened and most responses were “we don’t see anything like that in those screen shots you posted”.
… after one of our agents accidentally fired a gun.
I don’t know any details, but… Going back 10 years, that’s pretty much the only way Republicans have “shown a spine” - by quitting. And as with the others that have quit before, I assume his/her quitting will only guarantee a Trump toadie will be their candidate.
The country could use a few Republicans that will stand up and not quit.

I had heard some folks promoting that theory after seeing that Pretti was carrying a Sig P320. However:
- The P320’s reputation in that regard is overstated (although not as overstated as Sig might like…but the agents themselves are carrying P320’s);
- The agents’ reactions would have been different had Pretti’s pistol discharged first…particularly the agent who was holding Pretti’s pistol at the time.
- The videos clearly show an agent fired the first shot.

On Monday morning, I was at a restaurant counter finishing my breakfast when a middle-aged man sat down next to me and said he didn’t want to intrude. (He just had, so I put down my knife and fork, wiped my mouth with my napkin, and turned toward him.) He wanted me to know that although he’d been a life-long Republican, the events of the past weeks had caused him to leave the Republican party.
“I’m happy to hear that,” I said with a smile, and turned to finish my breakfast.
“I’m from New Hampshire and many of my Republican friends are leaving the party, too,” he said. “Minneapolis was the last straw.”
I put down my fork and turned toward him again. “I assume you’re talking about the behavior of ICE and border patrol agents there, and the killings?”
All terrible, of course,” he said, shaking his head. “But what really finished me were the lies – Noem. Miller, Bovino, Vance, Trump.” He frowned. “They lied through their teeth. I saw the videos! Can’t trust them ever again. None of them. Pack of liars.”
Yup, twice in two weeks and people are noticing.
They’ll get ‘em back. All they have to do is turn their attention back to trans people for a bit. War on the family and all that. They’ll remember that they still hate the liberals more.

Oh, maybe DHS can try a throwback to when a falling acorn was justification for multiple cops to unload on a vehicle?
Domestic acorn terrorists, that is.
Democrats desperately need to craft a message that resonates. Something like “we aren’t going to murder you because we disagree over politics” but more articulate. Or maybe just say that.
