Yeah, I think Patel forgot his talking points:

“You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It’s that simple. You don’t have that right to break the law and incite violence,” Patel said during an interview on Fox News on Sunday.

You can tell the Fox News audience any number of blatant bold faced evil lies about the victim, but “don’t carry a loaded gun” is not a winner.

Other Trumpers have been more on point.

It’s incredible to see the Trump administration, including Trump himself, openly stating that you can’t bring a gun to a protest and their followers (largely) support it.

I’m seeing a lot of pro-2A voters doing mental gymnastics right now. “Well yeah I guess he could legally carry, but he had no reason to bring a gun to a protest and get in the way unless it’s to threaten ICE, so it’s his fault!”

I think we’re running out of people to exclude if me doesn’t include Midwestern white guy who works with veterans and legally carries a gun…

He did worse than carry a gun. He carried a phone! And helped someone.

There are dozens of examples of people showing off their guns during protests. These guys are just clowns to suggest it was an issue.

“Shall not be infringed”

It’s fine, they just need to kill another random person today, who doesn’t have a gun, and we’ll forget all about this awkward messaging.

I just want to note the source article

People fucking magazine is writing about this awfulness. Edgy political commentators galore there, right? That’s how bad it is

there have been some online postings from gun lovers against the tyranny. was wondering when they’d show up but…

today a guy who was running for MN governor withdrew. said he can’t represent or be in the national party that is inflicting this retribution on an entire state. so there’s one person with a modicum of courage

This says it all really:

What it says is the uncomfortable truth, the US in general is quite content with what’s happening there right now.

The rest of the world is aghast, but the US is pretty fine with it overall.

Supporter’s of Team Trump are OK with it. The rest of the world is mostly not on Team Trump in any way. I think it’s difficult to translate that into indifference for the US when there is a pretty substantial bias that needs to be overcome to get to anything comparable when comparing to the rest of the world.

Similarly, much more of the world would have said Biden was way too old to be POTUS, much more than the aggregate US, for similar reasons.

That 10% of Republicans changed their view is encouraging. I expect many more will join them in the next update, although that will likely revert back as time progresses.

It appears that Trump will give MN some of what they want, while MN will continue to do what they already have been doing but tell Trump that it’s a victory.
